Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

Beautiful and functional :D Mrcrouse did a great job on it. Even the insides where the optics go are polished.
I love the finning on it, more surface area, better cooling :)

Ya, I added those fins on a whim. ;)

Hey Alex do you have any pictures of the insides? Man that laser is going to be a monster.

WOW Mrcrouse does some nice work. Did you draw it up in cad. What are you going to use for the switch? You have alot of work to do so get busy :D

Mrcrouse really does do good work :)
The switch is just the standard Maglite switch. I have to test the resistance on it though, I hope it can handle 5.5A. I'm not really worried about it thought since Jayrob has done 6A flash lights with the stock switch IIRC.

I would double check with Jay about the switch. I forget how he does his.

Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

He modified it with a 10A Judco switch afaik.. its like $2.10 at digikey..

That sounds about right. I knew he used something different than the stock switch.

Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

I just realised this is 5.5A after the buck. The current through the switch will be 3.5A.

3.5A should be just fine with the original switch, and "omg its happening" feeling is growing on me.. Can't wait to see it completed.. kudos !!

Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

I wanna see it too :P Awesome!

Looks like its going to be amazing, can't wait to see the powah of that beam.
Also to think it wasn't long ago, to get 5W+ you'd need a 3ph supply at 308v large frame Argon laser and a crane to lift it....
Star trek science fiction becomes science fact - incredible:gj:

Can't wait to see it finished! :gj:!!

Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

I'm quite excited for this. I should probably start making some more of these heatsinks, as I'm sure interest will grow after this monster is complete!

Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

Thanks! A lot of time goes into these. ;)
