637nm HL63133DG Build

Good lol

Oh and I've been meaning to tell you, your avatar is awesome!

haha cheers!

Heres my wiring diagram:

637nmWiring.png

I took more precautions in this build, i wore 2x earth straps, kept the LD in a static bag until it was needed and limited the duty cycle on the soldering iron when i was soldering same deal with the heat gun.

Also used some Arctic Silver Ceramique Thermal Paste on the diode where you press it into the aixiz module and some more where the aixiz module meets the heatsink.

Here are the powers with 3 different lenses:

405-G-1

190mW647nm300mA405-G-1.png

As you see the 405-G-1 is staying around 190mW i think the graphs are bumpy due to it being windy outside where i do my testing.

Based on this data from jayrob:

LOC red @ 431mA's

* 405-G-1: 292mW's
* 405-G-2: 279mW's
* 650-G-1: 305mW's

(305 / 292 x 100) - 100 = 4.45% Increase in output

650-G-1 Lens = 1.0445 x 190 = 198.45mW

With a 650-G-1 i hope to hit 200mW's :drool:

It is 1:30pm here and a sunny day so will have to wait for beam-shots if i can borrow a mates DSLR :)

I have two 250mW LPC-815 LOC's installed into my laser projector with PBS cube and I am running each with 400mA current (in parallel with 800mW total). I am getting just under half a watt of light output before the dichros and galvos. You think it would it be worth it for me to order two of these 170mW diodes (~340mW total light output with two) to replace what I already have?

I mean, is the light THAT much brighter? Would it be comparable to having maybe one watt of ~660nm red light? I know that it's hard to tell from your photos, but about how many times brighter (2X, 3X, 4X, etc.) would you say these are compared to a normal (cheap) red laser diode. Thanks in advance...

Thanks DJNY! From the PDF specification I see that at 250mA this diode puts out 170mW (CW) of light output. Fiddy, I see that you are running a microflex drive V5 set at 340mA. About how much light output do you expect to get at that current? You know the maximum amout of current that this laser can take without changing its color by much?

They aren't that much bright in my opinion, well mine a 160mW isn't that much brighter compare to my 340mW 660nm.

im going to say about 1~2x brighter at this stage.

When i get the 650-G-1 lenses and bump the current up hopefully the brightness of the beam gets brighter.

yes, what i think that sheet means it puts out 170mW raw output between 250-320mA, now thats without a lens with losses? i am not sure.

I forgot to change my first post to 300mA as that is what im running it at at the moment.(not 340mA as it said).

So my current output is 160mW @ 300mA with a AR coated lens.

Hopefully around 200mW with a 650-G-1 lens and might bump the current up to 320mA

These are some awesome shots :drool:
Thanks mannnn

That is Awesome Man. Keep up the cool work.:D

+ Already.:beer:

hehe cheers :)

haha noway man! 320mA+ is LED range and i believe rhd has his at 375mA going strong!

Ahh, ok :D

I thought the upper limit for these was around 300 :p

btw, how do you like the 635nm wavelength? Might make myself a 20mw pointer for fun.

200mW of 637nm is sooooo bright, brighter than my 384mW 660nm and you can tell which one is brighter easily!

650-G-1 is amazing for the 637nm wavelength it boost this diode from 170mW to 213mW!
