505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

Which diode are you interested in? IIRC, the 473nm diodes get a small amount of light at 15-20 mA, but to see it well takes about 40-50 mA. The 505nm diodes light slightly at 10-15 mA and light better about 35-40 mA. The data sheet I have for the 505nm states the threshold current as 70 mA.

Got my 505 from dtr yesterday. I'll have to see what numbers are on it. Anyone know what batch he got?

If you have a loupe of high magnification you can reference the numbers in this thread to see what numbers DTR has ..

I saw the number DTR got and it is the 510nm one. SB147EC91. If you get lucky, it might be 508nm.

Technically paul, couldn't you get your money back from the seller for those diodes? If they are being listed as 505nm diodes, but most are showing at 510nm then that's not you paid for. I know diodes tend to fluctuate in the wavelength they output, but still :/

IDK, Alex. I guess it depends on what that company's policies are. Don't know if Jordan would even want to try as they are selling and unless you have a spectrometer, you'll probably not notice the difference. I have a 502nm one. I think it will look very blue next to a 520nm laser. Even more so next to a 532nm laser. In fact, the 532nm might look yellow next to the 502nm. :D
 
Is there still a source for one of the low-wavelength batches, or was that just luck that those were so low? I like the color of the ones I got from DTR, but I crave lower!

I guess i was lucky enough to jump in the pool first and took a big chance. It looks like it paid off glad i bought plenty ..when i did.. Paul enjoy that diode you deserve it pal for all the work and info you collected and shared with all of us here at LPF.

Good point. Yes, 515nm looks quite greenish-blue next to 532, I couldn't imagine what 502nm would look like. Most likely cyan :D :bowdown:

Edit: Actually, Cyan is 490nm-520nm so it is Cyan anyway :D

Thank you, Rich. Without that diode, I may have never known there was a difference between the two batches. I don't see another source for that particular diode as I have been trying to find one. If you got many of these, you did, indeed, luck out, Rich.
 
Has anyone gotten one of these yet? Aren't they asking $40.00 each for one? It would be nice to know for sure that these are the lower WL diodes.
