It was a Friday night, and I had gotten back to my apartment earlier than expected. I had a few beers in me, so I had a little extra courage to grab one of my 476nm Nichia engineering sample diodes and get to building.
I started by ripping apart my 520nm MiniSabre V2, and rebuilt the 520nm diode into a chrome Leadlight pen host.
(Original 520nm MiniSabre build: http://laserpointerforums.com/f45/520nm-green-laser-diode-handheld-build-now-video-82444.html )
I grounded myself with this method:
I pressed the Nichia diode into an AixiZ module, soldered on a flexdrive, and cranked up the current till it hit 30mW. Not the safest method, but it worked! This little laser has been kicking for a couple months now...I just haven't had the time to post pics until now.
The completed laser w/ AixiZ acrylic lens:
Operated on 2x AA batteries:
Through the diffraction grating...
Two wavelengths confirmed!!!!
This laser was actually on the front page of my local newspaper. You can see it pointing into the prism in the corner.
Link to my first aqua laser build: laserpointerforums.com/f48/world-s-first-direct-diode-476nm-laser-pointer-video-added-84635.html
There will be no video for this one, but do expect a new video on my channel of something else shortly!
That's it for this thread, now I need to stop procrastinating and get to cramming for my finals
