445nm Laser Diode Compilation Thread

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

The LDs run pulsed in the projector at 250Hz and 50%/66% duty cycle depending on power settings. The 700mW reading is therefore not accurate.
They are still being run at 1W CW, what difference does it make?

That only means the pulse power is higher than 700mW , if 50% cycle is used in pulsed mode and CW laser power meter measures 0.7W, that means the peak of one pule is 1.4W , or close to it, is that correct?

Somebody provide more info on this, please!

No, that's not correct. It depends on how quick the meter is.

Anyway, we'll see how well the 1W run goes. :D

Well we know that 12x blurays die in seconds at 1 W, this one is running for 45 minutes, so we know it'll be class IV no matter what.

My kidneys still for sale!

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

Anyway IMO the problem won't be the power :D as far as I read here and on PL
It'll be the correction optics/lenses to get a small beam diameter without a huge divergence so there might be a bit of a optical power loss

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

From what I've been seeing the divergence with a single aspheric is damn decent.. I'll know firsthand in a couple days.

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

[sarcasm]since these are blue laser diodes I would use laser goggles which protect from blue. I'm not sure about everyone else, maybe laser goggles for red would be better.[/sarcasm]

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

My nova sport shields block 405 to 532nm.

445 is more of an indigo than blue, smartass.

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

Color "labels" placed on certain wavelengths are placed there arbitrarily. Scientific "labels" are not the same as personal perception. Remember, even 405nm is considered, by scientists, to be part of the "blue" group of colors.

Peace,
