My hene lamp is aobut the same color, I like 632-635 better, but band for the buck, I'd go with the 170mw version, even though right now it's VERY pricey.

With that you are looking at a much brighter beam. Someone already had a thread with one they built on it.

you dont seem to see the differences in relative brightness... 50mw of 635 is almost if not brighter than 200mw of 650nm..

i cant see paying 100-150$ per diode and having to mark them up to make a profit b/c it would get REALLY pricey then.. besides this supplier doesnt carry that high of a ppower for 635nm.

You still think your gonna do this? I'm in the market for a HL63133DG ( a 170mW 635nm single mode diode ~$175) but I would still like to have another one of these for a small pen build

with the amount of interest thats been shown i probably will but it may be another week or two before it happens.
 
Do you have the full data sheet, or is this the same as the other GB / thread for 20mW , 635nm diodes? That one was 3 parts of a data sheet. I think that was SANYO. Do you have the part number. Either way, I know they were tested and worked. Let me say this, as a direct SANYO distributor- these parts would normally sell for nearly $100 in an Industrial market.
 
Pardon the stupid question, but I'm a little confused (as usual),,,,
Why would I want to pay as much, or a little more for a 20mW 635nm than I would for a RLD65PZB5 (~100nW @200mA 650nm) (other than wait time for overseas shipping and the fact that I would rather that my purchases help support a fellow LPF member when possible)?
