I figured I should ask here first, since I really have no clue what I am looking at here.

Laser advertised is 1W 473nm for $253.56 at Tmart. 1000mW 1W 473nm High-power Blue Laser Pointer Pen Gray - Tmart.com

Is this laser possibly a 445nm that is being advertised incorrectly? Or are 473nm lasers at this output point right now? All I can say is that what I am seeing sounds too good to be true, and you know what they say when it sounds too good to be true.

I have not studied 473nm lasers to know anything about them at this point. What technology are these lasers, and beam specs, exactly?

Thanks

A 1W 473nm will probably cost as much as a new small car nowdays.
its probably just mislabled (resembles an O-like host clone or something)

Offcoarse they are to spec!
If anything overspec, because you know, these chinese sites are just have amazing quality products for dirt cheap. they work very hard on it! (well, type very hard..)

Okay really though, even with the best efficiency Im sure a true 1W> 532nm DPSS will require a pump 4W-5W in power output. I do wonder what hosts are on the market that can handle a continous run in a handheld (labs dont count as they are usually TEC cooled)

Not a chance in hell that's 473. You can tell from the picture of the beam. It's either a 445 or 447nm diode.

That's another thing I was curious about. Are 447s real diodes? I always figured when someone said 447, it was really just a 445nm Casio projector diode that they were calling a 447.

They are the one and the same.
There are now 3 variants of the 445s from crapio. A-130/140/150.
A-130 have a slightly lower wavelenth and less efficient, A-140/150 are slightly higher and practicly the same diode (also more efficient).

The wavelenth will vary from 445/447 when the diode operates. (so its the one and the same diode, not seperate for 445/447.) IIRC the die expands a little when they operate and contracts (from heat), so that probably gives that 2nm shift.

Playing devil's advocate here -

No objection to your position on these not being up to spec. Of course no objection to that ;) But why the theoretical objection to hosts that could handle a 5W IR diode?

On the flashlight side of things, those P7, XM-L, SST-50 etc LEDs take on like 3A at 4V (roughly?), so we're looking at ~12W in one host.

Why no dice for a laser? (in theory of course - no objection here - these Chinese listings AREN'T IT)

Thank you for clarifying.

This pointer is the same as the new O-like 1W 445nm pointers, only this one is $50 over priced.

Hey, so they missed a tiny detail, if it were a 473nm , ...a decimal point LOL! 473nm 1.000mW :na: Really I am sure it's a ~ 445nm diode! -GH

Is there even a 1W 473nm laser in existence? And Personally I wouldn't buy crap from dino, in one sales thread they stated their lasers will make your dreams come true.

Just for fun,
Assuming you had absolutly no choice, would you rather order this laser or the arctic?

haha, yeah I was kinda joking about the 1W 473

at 5mW normally around $250, give or take a little bit. Lets times that by 200..... $40,000 for 1W. And let's say cni was nice about it?$10,$20 grand??>
