I already posted this in Bitlasers.com's thread, but since these lasers are quite rare still, I thought I'd make a dedicated thread for this to give people a heads-up. Bitlasers.com now sell 520nm lasers for $269 (with coupon code from my signature). I believe the only other place this kind of laser is readily available is from laserbtb, and my price is much lower.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them :)

I think it's a awesome price for a 120mW 520nm direct diode handheld.
Also like that it's using a 18650 cell.
It's giving more options in the battery department for the user to choose :)

Very nice description with it aswell on your website sind's i have read numerous threads about people trying to use green lasers in cold weather and not working or unstable.
The 520nm direct diode has no issue with this like it say's on your website :)

I wish you best of luck with your sell, and when the time is right i will perhaps make a purchase from you :)

I remember i got mine for like $500 or something (50mW) but the good thing is that it can be turned up without opening the host :D .

Cheers, Sm.
And bump.

his site says: Laser Diode: OSRAM PL-520

Right. I am asking because the 50mW version is $130 from DTR and other sellers. so if the OP's laser kit uses this exact LD then I'd like to know. or, is it using a different version of the PL520 that is spec'ed perhaps for a higher output? PL520 is the generic part number but there may be other orderable part numbers not documented.

I can almost guarantee it is using the one from DTr and others. He may say differently but...looks like it to me. My PL520 Build does 100mW.

Oh how I want a 520...Maybe in a few weeks.

Wow, this is a nice, NICE setup/deal. WOW.

AFAIK the PL520 is the same all the way around. The are spec rated for 50mW. We generally double that rating and go around 100mW. Mine is running quite efficiently @ 115mW.

I'd like to know if the diodes were binned for efficiency or whether they are just driven as hard as it takes to hit 120mW. Is this a guaranteed output? I would expect a considerably shortened diode life if one had one that wasn't particularly efficient and driven hard. It would be a short lifespan indeed.

I think knowing the driver setting would allow us to know if it was being run at a reasonable level of current. Then of course, whether or not it actually hits 120mW would be the other necessary factor. Maybe an exact LPM reading would help.

Re: 120mW 520nm laser for sale $299

The diode is from DTR. All the info is in the specs, the laser is 100-120mW running at 300mA depending on diode efficiency. The one pictured is metered at 110mW in room temperature. If you think the title is somewhat misleading I can change it. The driver is also adjustable, so you could tune the power up or down if you want. 300mA is however in my opinion a relatively conservative setting.

I would advertise it with the driver setting. I've seen these diodes often outputting anywhere from 66mW-120mW when set right at 300mA. And those were all DTR's diodes.

I think that would create more confusion than it would solve, most of my customers would not know what power to expect at all from just the current. 100-120mW in the spec is guaranteed, if one laser outputs even less than that I will not sell it as such.

Oh and by the way, I totally forgot about the coupon code in my sig, making this laser actually $289, not $299.
