wannaburn said:“It's not a 6x diode I do not mod my lasers the diode I use in this pointer I done now is a 150mw doide i am running it at 120mw but does peak at 133mw then goes down and stays at 120 to 124mw it runs at 210ma. The 200mw diode i got runs at 420ma so got to use a high power driver .
The 6x diode you talk about should only do 65 to 70mw after that to get more power you over drive it so its a mod and makes the life short on the diode.
a 6x laser pointer is not in the same class as my laser pointer because one its not modded and two its a diode that does that power and was made to do it .
you can get high power blu-ray diodes if you know where to get them from and when you know people who work for big companys it makes my job easy.
you might think a 6x blu-ray is the thing now in the shops to get but next years blu-ray is already on the work bench which is 8x or 10x and is already been made they are not going to sale it now because they want to sale as many 6x blu-ray before bringing out the next model.
in the high tech world of video,tv and hifi what you buy today is out of date by tomorrow .”
Who is this guy trying to kid? A 6x pulling 60mW? I’ve been running my 6x @ 200mW for weeks now, and play with it every day. His feedback on eBay has nothing to do with lasers. I only see low priced junk (as a seller), and the rest was too long ago to view item. Another thing he mentions is the peak, and the subsequent drop. In every BR build I have done, weather it be driven with Dr. Lavas drive, a 7805, or LM317, one thing has been consistent and that is from a cold start, the power only increases. If you power it from an AC/DC source and even fresh batteries, they seem to output more light as they warm up.
Im sorry to hear that things went this way for the purchase you made, and hope that he will own up. I have had only a couple of returns with my sales, but always make things right. If an assembled unit is sold, then the issues with the unit reside on his shoulders. If it were a DIY kit, or parts there is always the chance of the buyers fault, but that isn’t the case here. To cover your butt, I would file a dispute, and hold off on the chargeback giving him a fair chance to resolve this. With the money involved don’t take any chances and end the dispute until a new laser or money is in your hands.
Best of luck,
Joe

I actually found the auction first and then googled for the sharp diode and found this thread, so I registered to ask him about cooling and duty cycle and stuff. If I'd have seen the thread first I agree I probably wouldn't have ordered it, but whatever. I don't get the feeling that he's trying to scam me. Hope I'm right.

I did sell it to him as a 150mw laser pointer but it was doing 180mw in the end and i done good tests on it and it past but for some reason it as gone wrong and i want to find out why.
