That's a good question! If he did, his actual power is MUCH higher, because of the 650nm AR coating on the Dilda lens.
 





Hmmm... 210mA and only 120mW sounds funny to me, seeing as the 6x diode is putting out about 120mW at around 120mA. :-?
 
my Coherent Lasercheck work fine thank you very much plus i try it on another meter reads the same .

this laser as been tested well not just been put on for a 1 min for pictures.

the diode is made to do the power it does at 210ma .

Lets look at some of the 6x diodes poeple have done on here all look very good then i here they lasted about 2 weeks then they said they will order another one and try again what a waste of money using diodes to over power.

At the end of the day my pointer will last the test of time and not be a 5min wonder like the 6x pointers i hear about .
 
Are you going to tell us how much the diode would cost us? ::)

Very good research you got one of them all i can tell you the one in the pointer now i have done is made by sharp i can not tell you much because of where they have come from so take my word its a diode that was made to do this power it does i just know so high power people who are in the know .
 
Well, maybe you are right. Sharp has had its 6x diode on the market for an year already, so I wouldnt be surprised if they already have working 8x and 10x diodes in [ch1072] pre-production stage...
 
Mitch.. You didn't answer if you are using the stock DX red laser lens or not..
That lens is AR coated for 650nm, and if you are using it, your power is lower, than it would be with a clear lens.


And the thing CC said about the LaserCheck was not meant in a bad way. In some cases a LaserCheck will show a lower than actual power for 405nm lasers. CC wanted to say, that your power could actually be higher.

If it is a similar (or the same) diode as Phenol linked to, it would fit.

More powerful diodes always need a higher current to reach the same power as lower power diodes. The graph is always more to the right.
 
I would also like to add that I have yet to hear of a case where the 6x diode has just died out randomly. Every case I've read about of a dead 6x diode has been due to operator error. Whether it be setting the current wrong, faulty driver, hooking up the leads wrong, discharging a cap into it, or even a broken window on the diode. But as far as diodes that have been extracted in the correct manner, running at a safe current level of around 110 - 120mA, I haven't heard of one just up and dying. :)
 
to the question about the lens no i am not using the dx lens that as been taking out it now as a glass clear lens so its better .

any way i just made this laser up to sale and will be putting it on ebay tomorrow and who ever wins it on ebay gets a free 100mw red laser pointer.

I am happy with the laser pointer i have made and done lots of test on it and happy it's past .
 
What i don't understand is why you are selling it, if the diode inside is such an ultra secret sample.. I would imagine you would keep it to yourself, or if you can get more, then you would offer diodes alone to people here.

I'm sorry, but this still doesn't sound right to me. And not only because the same power could safely be achieved by a 6x BR writer diode, but much more for the above reason.
 
why i don't want to keep it because i don't need it i have lot's of lasers and i can make many more and no i don't want to sell the diode to people thats why i make laser pointers to sell as a complete unit .

I am more into dpss lasers and working on a 1 watt hand held green laser i am not into blu-ray don't get me wrong i like them but it's just not my thing .

just take my word for it my diode is a good diode with a good driver and a good glass lens which makes a top of the range blu-ray laser pointer .

My next blu-ray laser i will make will be 200mw or over tell me do you think your 6x diodes can match it ? or fold by over powering them .
 
No, i don't think a 6x diode can do 200mW. At least not after the lens... I've only seen them go up to 146mW and no one wants to risk more at the time. They are just too expensive.

I'm just wondering, why you would sell top secret diodes in pointers at all, but not the diode alone, if you have acces to them. Besides, how much are you selling this one for?


Oh, and can you please tell us, where you got the clear glass lens that fits into that head?

Absolutely! I think it's actually putting out 140-150mW.

And I would really like to thank Igor and Gooey and the other very knowledgeable members here for their concise peer review of this new builder.
I am much more willing to believe that his claims are true thanks to the questions you've asked and the answers mpmitch2000 has supplied.

mpmitch2000, please don't take offence because of our questions here. We've had quite a few scammers lately who show up with fantastical claims and won't provide evidence or answer questions. Transparency is key here. If your source for these diodes is an R&D channel, then no-one here will be competing for you for sales even if you do come clean as to the actual diode spec. We're just hobbyists and don't have access to the latest stuff until it finds its way into consumer products, so being honest is not going to hurt you.

If you do have access to next-gen diodes, then we heartily welcome you and your products. Sell that unit to one of us, and a review here will give you legitimacy and a lot more sales. I think you're wasting an opportunity if you sell it to some robot sniper on eBay. PM me if you want an offer.

Yeah, i would love to see it measured and reviewed by an experienced forum member! Most people on e-bay can't tell a good laser from a Spymodex. ::)


For example, CC could measure what it actually puts out before the lens, after the lens, the actual current consumption and so on. With a 405nm AR coated lens, it could be amazing.
