1.6W Ehgemus 14650 Pen Host W/Dual Flexdrives

Re: Ehgemus SS 14650 Pen Host -- 780mW 445nm --

As always nice review! thanks
I figured that thing would melt down with a ten min run but than again the entire host is a heat sink.

Re: Ehgemus 14650 Pen Host -- 780mW 445nm --

Now THAT is awesome. It's rare to see such a slender custom host, in fact i can't even think of one.
Nice work Ehgemus, this thing is awesome.

Was the 780mW the max that the battery could handle?

Re: Ehgemus 14650 Pen Host -- 780mW 445nm --

Can you hint what the host cost ? Or am I asking too much :D

I could have done a 1W build but this thing is plenty bright and will last a long time.

PM Ehgemus for pricing.;)

Re: Ehgemus 14650 Pen Host -- 780mW 445nm --

Great review.

Amazing power and stability, and it looks great; nice and sleek.

I'm waiting on one that's based exactly on your 1.8W black coated one, minus the coating, since reading your review of that, thanks :)

Just wondered what driver you used in this build.

A microboost, or flexdrive?

Re: Ehgemus 14650 Pen Host -- 780mW 445nm --

That thing is Sweet! I want one now haha. hey DTR hows the a150s diodes compared to a140's? I noticed that projector when looking and thought "hmm I wonder if it has the same diodes since the lumen output is the same and that's why people buy the cheaper a140 for extraction. Or if I fell on something new :eg:

It is a flexdrive.

Actually the 140 is 2500 lumen and the 150 is 3000 lumen. But from what I have seen the diodes are seeming to be the same. But more testing is needed to determine if there is any difference:beer:

Re: Ehgemus 14650 Pen Host -- 780mW 445nm --

is it just me or are ehgemus hosts becoming as common as the flashlight-heatsink hosts?
must be the great heatsinking for the 445s, or the polished look, or the great clicky...

Hmm seems I read a page with wrong info as I looked at another web page and you were wright. Keep us up on the testing of those diodes though
Also, is there still 24 diodes in the a150?
I wonder if "they" just boost up the driver current on the same exact diodes, that would be kind of funny...

Edit: every time I see that baby I want one more. :) (your host that is)

Here this thread covers most of the information/speculation/testing that we have done.

It could be yours. I love to recycle so I can get the next great review going.;)

Sweet build! That is a pen build on steroids. Truly a beauty. Nice work to both of you.
