Hey bryson. Just wanted to tell you that this lab laser will melt solder ;). Try it sometime. Its pretty fun.

just for the love of your eyeballs wear laser goggles :)

anyone want to get brave and open the driver on one of these DHOM's?

I really want to see how big the driver itself is

Definitely wearing goggles!

And definitely don't sign me up for taking this apart just yet! I just took the time to put it all together hahahaha :eg: still new to it.

I don't own one of these, please say why you need the computer power supply there.
Dose this laser not work off of 120vac ?

@ T_J no you need a more powerfull laser than this one to cut electrical tape
come over here I want to show you something in a 5 watt

No, because the electrical tape tears itself apart in fear before even getting close to it :D

It's an analog laser so it needed a 5V DC analog modulator. Still not entirely sure how all that works but it's needed! I didn't know that until I got it :p thanks to jeffreythe00 for all the help in that area.

That is good it has analog modulation I would just use a fully charged lipo cell for that, a computer power supply seems so big hehehe
you need to get a battery supply of 6 volts and put a pot on it so you can turn your laser up and down. if you need a schamatic I will send you one it's realy simple.
so it dose run off 120 vac for main power then.

Well not like I'm going to be carrying it around anyways! I was thinking (Dave's idea) to just attach a rheostat to it. That should make me be able to vary the power too.

And yes, it does run off just a regular 120VAC for the main power.

hehe, I just want to see whats inside the DHOM box/driver/psu

ya it needs a new KTP and flashlamp so its only doing about 10~15W would be doing 40W if it had a new KTP and lamp

Maybe if I feel brave I'll do that and take some pics.

I'm jealous. I wanna see pics of 40W of 532nm

flecom, is it a pulsed laser or do you mean an arc lamp?

This is more a question for someone like laserbee -- would the output of the laser be higher than that read on the LPM if the fan of the laser is pointed directly at the LPM and is therefore cooling the receiving surface down? If so.. all measurements of these lasers are a little low!
