1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180 ****5 LEFT****

Glad I got mine early. Had it for quite awhile now, and its still awesome. Thanks to this laser, I want to try my own hand at building one...

Focusing tip for anyone interested: Instead of putting a spring or tape on the threads of the lens, I made a round spacer out of aluminum that fits snugly around the threads and is .097 inches thick. When I tighten the lens down against the spacer it has a perfect focus to infinity. If I want to burn I just loosen it to sharpen the beam. This way I always know that the beam is focused for night pointing and don't have to worry about the lens turning while it's in my pocket. When making the spacer, it takes time to get it right cause once you get the thickness close, you have to literally remove .001 or .002" at a time till you get it perfect but for me it was worth it. What a great Laser this is.

so the question of us is : When are you gonna start making more of these spacers and sell to us? :eg:

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180 ****5 LEFT****

Each spacer would probably be slightly different in thickness due to variation in dimensions between lasers...therefore it is something you would have to fit to your own laser and can't be mass produced. Sorry.

You may have noticed the thread title change. I am selling the last few of this batch for $100 to the first 5 people who PM about this offer. Price will go back up to normal with the next round.

These are not bad, under-powered, defective in any way. They are just the last of the batch and I want them gone to make room for the next. These are aluminum heatsinks. For those who replied if you are international add $20 for express shipping. Thanks. That should be the end of them but I will update the thread title at the end of the day if there is 1 left for any reason.

That's a good idea but if you run the laser longer and it heats up you will find that it needs to be focused again. I like it tight (Luke can probably attest to this!) and put on quite a bit more teflon tape than most. The only bad thing is it's near impossible to focus while the laser is on without burning your fingers. With over a watt it's not like you feel warmth it's more like touching a soldering iron!

I hadn't thought about the heat expansion thing...interesting. I have had mine on for over a minute without any perceptible change in focus. Mine has a copper heat sink which has quite a bit lower expansion rate than aluminum so that may help too. I rarely leave my laser on for more than a few seconds anyway so I should be fine. I definitely love having the lens tight. I don't like focusing all the time. I haven't had any problem burning my fingers but I hate it when the light reflects off of my fingers when I focus at night. Definitely a bad thing if you're not wearing goggles.
