I am have trouble starting a fire with mine. I focus it to the point where it just punches a hole through the magazine page so then I make the beam bigger but still no luck! What am I doing wrong?
Got mine tonight and the thing is so bright I think I went deaf.
Deaf from all the screaming I did in shear excitement. Compared to the tight green beam of the 532nm, this puts off a gorgeous deep blue beam that is velvety soft. Very ethereal and something I just want to stare at forever. You rock yobresal!
As I stated in earlier posts, I'm only using this as a pointer at night and wonder without glasses, from the edge of the host, how far out is it safe to just look at the beam? Right now, I'm using the side of a mountain about a mile away to focus the beam to a dot. I want to look at the beam even just for a second but until I hear from you guys about this, I'm just looking at the beam through my peripheral vision while looking at the dot.

yobresal's lasers ignite paper pretty easily (when you have it focused properly). What i do is crumple up a piece of paper and focus it to a pinpoint and within a few seconds i get flame. Just keep trying it can take a few times to get a flame but these things are awesome and can definitely ignite paper.
This is just typical use. You should give it a break every once in a while though.
If the collimator ring is hot to touch that diode is running very warm. Nice thing with this much power is you don't NEED to have it running long to get a result!
I may do a video with breaking a thermometer. There's one on youtube with a lower power (1/2 watt maybe) 445 and it took surprisingly long for it to heat it and break the bulb. The longest I can hold it on there is perhaps 1-2 seconds before the liquid has completely filled the upper expansion area. Without a shield in front of the camera I'm not going to burst it for obvious reasons.
I'm trying to get a hold of you yobresal so I can make my purchase! I am ready to make payment as soon as I hear from you! Email me or message me back when you get this! Thanks!
My Yob 445 arrived yesterday. Did a quick outdoor function test (oooooooh bluuuuue!) and read the 445 eye safety thread. Then pulled the batteries out to wait on any further testing until my goggles arrive...
