I've been very interested in these lasers for the longest time. I've been thinking about purchasing one, and i have yet to make up my mind. i'm basically on the edge to buying one, but i'm holding myself back, forcing myself to analyze whether to buy one or not. When i make up my mind, i'll definitely come here, i just hope there will be some left by then.

i today, discovered that I have an infestation of brown recluse spiders in my garage (and probably basement) ... if you don't know, these can kill a human, their venom is like a bad bee sting times 100, apparently and you can lose flesh eventually ...
I am envisioning using this yobresal laser to eradicate brown recluse sob's from my house !

Your work seems to be praised by a lot of people, so i don't think a trip to napa would be necessary. I'll probably buy one, but not at this moment, only when i feel the time is right. I'll let you know once i decide when.

Proper focus is important.
I just got some very interesting sounds when focusing it at a submerged pickled cucumber in a glass in my fridge. :D
Pointing it into coffee with milk will give a small steam bubble every 5-10 seconds. (Careful with reflections from the surface.)

True, for instance.. if your trying to cut and penetrate.... smaller the beam the better.

If your trying to burn the objective is the be above ignition temperature and as "big" as possible.
Many materials won't flash well without a "collection" of heat.

A good example is trying to start a fire with embers or moss... one ember just don't work... it takes many bunched together.

If the beam is too small and hot, it will cut instead of burn... similar to a welding torch.

In other words... having a tiny 1mm X 1mm point thats 2000 degrees F is worse for burning than simply having a larger 1cm X 1cm point thats 500 degrees F since the "ignition temp" of paper is only 451 F.

"just an example .... don't do the math I know it doesn't march out".....

If you've ever played with a magnifying glass and the sun..., if the glass is big and you have plenty of power, you can catch paper aflame much faster with a bigger spot.

If the glass is small and you don't have a ton of heat to deal with, the spot has to be small to even get up the temperature needed to burn paper so you get what you get and its much harder.

Thats the cool thing about having focus... its gives control.

I just received my laser a few days back. This thing is amazing!! It is smaller than expected and I could not be happier with it. Thanks a lot Luke. It arrived quicker than expected although it seemed like it took forever because I was so excited about it. I have no complaints. The focusing lens is loose but as discussed earlier it is an easy fix with a little bit of teflon tape.

Now I know that there is a thread dedicated to safety but I feel as though I should put another warning up. I HIGHLY recommended getting goggles for this thing with a decent absorbance aka optical density or OD. I have goggles with a OD of 5. This means that approximately 0.001% of the light from the laser is visible. Even when the laser is 100,000 times weaker the dot does seem bright. When the laser is viewed without glasses, our eyes really underestimate the strength of the laser because our retinas only have a certain number of photo receptors for specific wavelengths. As most people know our eyes are not nearly as sensitive to this laser as say a green one but that does not mean that this laser causes less damage than a 1 watt green laser. If anything it would could cause more damage as our eyes do not respond with self defense mechanisms such as pain, squinting, or pupil constriction.

If you get this laser without any goggles I recommend you do not use it until you get yourself a pair. If you absolutely can't wait, use meth or heroin before you play with the laser*; both of which cause your pupils to constrict.

So, fella, are you still selling the 1W bluey's? I've got a 200mW red, 50mW green (dpss) now and have a 50mW+ violet (405nm) on the way (due tomorrow), and a nice blue one would add to the collection. I also have a bucket load of melees-griot 632nm HeNe's and a few "Gre"-Ne's too.

I'm in the UK, so if you still have them available can you PM me the amount and shipping details.

How much current does this laser drain from the two fresh Juice batteries ? I measured 0.85A with my Fluke DMM. Just to make sure that everything is alright.
I was using a single 18650 battery all this time until my goggles arrives.

The batteries I include are NOT charged and will need to be before they can be used. That being said the DMM measures the current at around 1.2 amp If your not getting that on freshly CHARGED CR123A batteries then you need to swap out your batteries or charger.

Just received mine today and this laser is awesome !!! Very good build quality and very powerful

Just for grins, I popped a red balloon at 30 feet with it!... at that distance, the beam is about 3/4" long and a few mm wide...... gives you an idea what it does closer when the beam is more like a dot!
