So even with the adjustable lens, a dot can't be produced? Am I seeing it wrong because of the video quality or does Zephyr's video in this thread show a round dot?

The beam is inherently rectangular, but at close ranges it can be focused to a fine needle point. There is only one main lobe, no nulls, and it's stable (TEM00). The horizontal and vertical order of the beam profile are solid.

Whether it's a cylindrical transverse mode or rectangular transverse mode makes little to no difference when you're burning things. And FWIW the holes I poped in the jewel case were cylindrical in burn pattern. It's all a matter of focus.

So if anyone would like a matching 650nm Red laser I have 1 available. It uses a LCC diode and the current is set at 440mA. Should be around 250mW. It is using a standard acrylic lens. I recommend switching to glass but it is entirely up to you. It runs on 2 rechargeable CR123A batteries just like the 445nm lasers do. It is identical aside from the color of laser that is coming out and the driver used. Asking $100 shipped or $95 if added onto a new 445nm order.

Assuming they are still in, I surprisingly got mine in only a few days.. maybe 3 - 4.. can't remember... that was a couple weeks ago.

Mine just arrived, I have tested it a bit before putting the batteries in my charger.

This is money well spent, my only worry is what it will be capable of with full charge.
