Re: Reke 500RGB

Here are some photos of the projector which has a key interlock switch. The galvo's look different than the review unit and the dip switch chart is not correct. It also has some different animations i got a goose instead of the eagle :). My unit seems to be right up to spec it will peak sometimes in the 620's but usually stays around 580mw. I am very pleased with this projector for the price.

Neat.. I like the key... I don't know what they did the to galvos, those look weird but they seem to work... maybe the goose is less flickery than the eagle?

Good to hear it's on / over spec anyway...

Yeah it seems like the goose is less flickery than the eagle. Cant wait to get some stuff in so i can try out the ilda connection.

Neat... Seems pretty similar though... pretty minor changes....
ILDA should be fun...
Maybe grab some video if you have a chance? I'm curious to see what the new patterns and animations look like..

Re: Reke 500RGB

I just ordered one! The ILDA may encourage me to finish my RGB which I started.

Re: Reke 500RGB

Well, i'm considering buying this. I've just got a few questions...

1. How good is the white balance, is a warm white or a cool white? Do the yellows look good? (I'm asking because camera's pick up colors differently than the human eye)

2. How much do you think you can run the scanners at the max angle without pushing them to hard?

3. How long did it take to ship, from payment to at the doorstep?

1. Camera's don't do it justice... the white is probably more on the cool side than anything hinting slightly blue I would say.. It's not 100% perfect so if you are looking for perfection this isn't the unit for you it has a lot of flaws when compared to a high end unit. All the mixes have slight fringing / divergence issues but it's quite minor and barely noticeable at a distance unless you look for it.
I like the yellow mix myself quite a bit.. Purple / Violet is also really good.

2. You can get a decently stable image at 30k but you loose A LOT of detail due to over driving them... To get the ILDA test pattern to show up without distortion you need to run them at like 3-4k but you can actually see it scanning each part of the image at that speed (I.E. can't make anything out without a long exposure camera) They will run at 10k but I noticed some distortion of the pattern... They are VERY limited galvos... You can probably replace them with some PT-30ks if you were up for it, but they cost more than the projector.

I ran them all the way up to 50k and they didn't seem like they were making any funny noises or smoking or anything :p but the images were distorted to the point that you couldn't really make out most of the image.

3. It took a week for me to get mine.. Others slightly longer.. They usually prep for 2-3 days and then shipping is less than a week.. They seem to send it EMS regardless of the shipping option selected at this point but even EMS gets it there within a business week.

I am not sure what you are looking for in a projector, if you are looking for something to run a beam show or if you don't already have one and just want a cheap unit to play with this is great at 1/7th the cost of a decent projector. If you are looking to do pro graphics shows or are looking for something for more than just playing around with I would say get something a lot higher end because you will probably be disappointed with anything under $1500. Don't get me wrong that this is a great little unit for home use or as an entry to laser projection but if your a power user or are someone who would want to get QS3 this probably isn't the unit for you unless your using it as a secondary projector.

Well, all i'm really looking for is a RGB projector that can do beam shows, since I didn't want to pay for a 600$ red module to balance out the G/B in my current projector (Almost done! :D) I figured this would be a better alternative, since it's half the cost.

600$ red how much power do you need:drool:

Re: Reke 500RGB

1W of 660nm or 400mW of 640.

why don't you correct 2 of the new 635 diodes and combine them with a PBS

that's 70+70+8+25 diodes prisms and pbs cube so around 200 without heat-sinks and such :tinfoil:

This guy should be able to do most beam shows no problem... It's really the graphics that it struggles with...

If you're willing to live with a few minor imperfections plus the galvo speed which is a pretty big one (but for my purposes and most people buying this unit not really an issue) it's a great deal and a nice unit.

And if you're building a proper projector on the side it will be a nice compliment to it once your finished.

EDIT: not sure if I mentioned it but I love this projector :)

Re: Reke 500RGB

Alrighty! Just ordered one of these! :D 306$ Canadian after coupons.

@ Bennett I started the build before I knew about the 635's and a 635 build would still cost me a bit

40$ Diode mounts
20$ Lasorb's
40$ Optics mounts
120$ Laser Diodes
40$ Waveplate
40$ AR coated for red prism pair
40$ PS cube
5$ FS mirror
110$ 650-g-1
40$ FMP3

495$ Plus a good chunk of my time. I probably would do it, but the case I bought it too small for another laser.

@Guyfromhe

Thank you for your help! My home made projector should be done soon, but I need to get some 3-aixiz mounts because aligning the o-like dichro mounts is a hard task :) It's got DT-30's + 1W corrected 445 + 300mW 532nm so it should compliment it nicely.

Do you have two projectors? Can you use one DAC for both of them? I've got a DB-25 (It may be r232 though) switch box from back in the day, and I'm going to see if I can wire it up for both to be on the the same time

Re: Reke 500RGB

I would highly reccomend the 300mW, since the 200mW is TTL modulation instead of analog.

I got it from meierlight for 220$ shipped via DHL included (DHL got me for 10$ at the door). It is listed as 250$, but you can make an offer.

ok thanks ill just save up the extra cash i guess and could i under drive it a bit so i can use 2x lbc-826 to get like 600mW
