The P3 will run just fine with 8.4V. If your goal is to lower the voltage from 12.6V to 8.4V then it would be better to use a dummy battery or wire a bypass for one of the slots all together. If you run two in parallel that are in series with another it will only have the capacity of the single.

You can search over at CPF I know there were a few members that were making them back when I was building this thing but have not looked into it for a while.:beer:

I would think that your only limitation will be from the batteries not the holder.

I like both setup's. The larger single cells can go into a much smaller host. As far as how long they last depends on what you are doing with them. If you do the 3X18650 in series you will have around 2900mAh with 1.8A draw from a linear driver for around 1 1/2 hours runtime. If you do them in parallel in that holder you can get around 8700mAh with dual flexdrives pulling on average during the run cycle about 2.5A @ 1.8A. With this you could get close to a 3 1/2 hour run. Now with the 26650 you have 4000mAh and are limited to the dual flex due to the lower voltage with the same 2.5A average current draw @ 1.8A. That will give you around 1 1/2 hour run time. For the 26500 you are looking @ 2300mAh and still limited to the dual flex with just under 1 hour runtime.:beer:

just checked on ebay and everysingle ultrafire RL-2088 is over 100 dollars was so excited i was going to make one but noway at that price, anyway is the Saik torch good quality and is the clicky action as beastly as this one?

na just joking, hmm off topic but if mohrenberg kept all those LED's from his hotlights he would be flooded with LED's hmmm i wonder what kind of light output all of those combined together and focused to a 3 inch thick beam would give....

you should use a copper heatsink and set the current to 3amps. it would dissapate enough heat. also thats a, one massive host. im pretty sure you can easily fit a 40mm DC brushless fan in there to keep the laser diode and drivers cool. just add some small exhaust slits on the host to get rid of hot air and you can do some serious motherf*cking damage with that beast

If you pump 3A into one of these diodes all you will get is heat and a dead diode shortly there after. @ about 2.1A the diode stops producing light and will die quickly if not turned down.:beer:

The efficiency rate drops off quite a bit after 1.9A even with the most efficient diodes. That is why I suggest no more than 1.8A and even that could be pushing it if your diode is not very efficient.
