I've come across a couple of ideas on another forum I frequent that helps generate revenue for that forum.

1) Name changes

2) Custom user title

Both cost $20 per. Just a thought.

Not sure about the name changes...people could scam...change thier name , and do it again.

But the custom user title is a good idea...seen that on forums i use as well.

Offer a free amateur membership & a paid pro membership. Give the pro members access to a few locked threads for builds or sales or something like that.

True. I do remember someone getting their panties in a bunch because they won a bunch of grease or something lol.

I believe that technically, a raffle is considered gambling and PayPal doesn't allow it, unless everyone wants to sign up for google checkout or something like that for one raffle.

Sort of. Someone bought a bunch of tickets hoping to get something good and ended up with only some grease.

That would be a very bad idea. You don't want to create any divisions or classes within the forums, that will only turn new and existing members away.

Yup, some members are allready so far up thier own ar$es , wallowing in thier own awsomness that this would make them unbearable.

I was actually thinking that the paid membership would be for selling in the BST thread. The free membership would not allow selling on the forum. Companies pay to advertise here so why shouldn't the users do the same.

Please don't flame as this is only an idea thrown into the mix to be discussed.

thx for this idea
LPF is in great shape financially. each donation does help greatly, they are covering the costs of hosting all together which is very impressive, and helping with estimated tax

if anyone wants a custom user text just let me know or whatever via email however i might be slow to respond if i get a lot of requests about it

dont think i would ever make a fee for people being members, the advertising makes it possible for the site to be free for all

one of the main "costs" is the time and effort to maintain the forum (system maintenance stuff), but i have fun doing it and its going quite well

enjoy the site and thx to all for ur support
have fun
peace
