Don't think this has been posted, but this idiot spends a short period of time antagonizing vehicles with a supposed 500mW green pointer. Why do it?!

Is because of morons like these that there are so many restrictive laws for laser pointers! BTW I don't believe that this is a 500 mW laser pointer

Because he's an idiot and he thought it is funny ... At least he didn't aim the laser at the drivers.
Good that the laser is not 500mW.

Thanks God, lasers are not widespread (yet) in my country. When they become readily available, it would be a matter of time someone to do something stupid. And then the government will quickly ban lasers, just to show they are actually doing something.

Challenge it all you like, but you can bet money that if this guy is willing to point this at cars, he will point it at passing planes or helicopters. While yes it may cause no immediate danger the news reporters and press like to blow everything out of proportion and the next thing you know it's another tick against lasers being banned completely.

Further more it's just a stupid thing to do, if one of those cars panicked and tried to avoid it you have an accident on your hands.

But if you think that's an ok way to constructively use your lasers I don't think this forum is the right place for you, the point of the thread is to keep reminding everyone that this kind of behavior isn't the norm, and isn't accepted by anyone on the forum. This may help a few of the newer members to understand the issues we face with irresponsible use of high powered lasers.

I hope you understand now, and that my intellect qualifies your "test" :)

Actually , and in a more sensical way, my question was more of a prod for you to explain why you were posting. Thank you for your explanation.

Dont jump to conclusions and think that others disagree with common sense.

peace

in many countries, including mine, the law prohibits import/selling and ownership of laser pointers exceeding 5mW... :(

I would expect that laser to be a 30mW or 50mW at best. I can tell you that if that was above 200mW you would in all cases see the BEAM. Cheers! jander6442

Being more precise (sorry for the correction Arayan ;)), here in Italy anything over class 2B is banned from commerce, actually ..... this means, max 1 or 2 mW ..... 5mW is already considered too much, cause it's classified class 3 ..... :cryyy:

Florida... The UK, OZ, And in many cities, aiming a pointer at law enforcement is a felony.

Do I have to make up a list, its long....

Not to mention the whole CDRH thing about demonstration lasers in public not exceeding class IIIA.
