8X Labby Set @ 350mA

I was unsatisfied with my LOC labby so I decided to put in a 8x diode with a flex drive set @ 350mA i kept everything else the same and i put on a glow in the dark warning label that i made! I like this build alot better then the LOC labby, what about you guys?

I wasn't satisfied with my 8x at 360ma (451mw) so I bumped up the current to 400ma and got 508mw on my laserbee. Now I'm happy.

Will the life be reduced? Sure but igors 8x murder diode is going so strong at 300ma I felt I could bump mine up even if it cuts the life in half. That's still plenty play time for sure.

Jesus man, how many different 8x's is that now? It seems like you've built three 8x lasers in the time it took me to buy a drive and get the diode shipped to Igor, lol.

Will the life be reduced? Sure but igors 8x murder diode is going so strong at 300ma I felt I could bump mine up even if it cuts the life in half. That's still plenty play time for sure.

400mA is way too high IMO. It is true that the murder experiment is going well, but it's not done yet. For me, I'd rather run a diode at a safer current, and just wait until a more powerful diode comes out.

Maybe but if it lasts a year then that's great, the 16x will be out by then. Seriously, mine doesn't get much use but when I do use it 500+mw is pure awesome. I doubt I get 6 hours a year on a pointer (that's 1 minute every day for 365 days). Sometimes it sits for weeks untouched.

This is my experience too. In fact I doubt if many of my lasers get even as much as an hour a year. It is as much about the having as the using ...;-)

True, but you also gotta think about re-sale value. However I've never brought myself to sell a laser yet, I NEED them all!

What would you guess has been the total "on" time for this 8x laser at both the 360mA and 400mA settings combined?
