I think If I saw blue I would love it since the blue guy (I'm blue, dabadi dabadai!) but for now I'll stick to violet

473nm for me :) I would maybe choose another wavelength if this included gas lasers.. although I have only seen a few of those in real life (HeNe and Argon).
The "true blue" is just amazing - really beautiful colour, very visible (especially in the dark), and quite good flourescing abilities.
A shame it's so expensive..

We'll just have to wait. I remember when <1mW red lasers were $50.00 here, now they're as cheap as $2.00. Same thing will happen to 473nm lasers someday.

Somehow, sadly, I doubt this.. The price drop of red diodes was mainly due to so many different devices using them for reading and burning as well as all those cheap pointers which were sold everywhere. The supply became huge, dropping prices.. while they could be mass-produced, lowering production costs.
With 473nm you need crystals which are very expensive and difficult to produce, especially if they have to be efficient. Blue can be used in projectors and laser TVs, but they will not be used for reading or writing disks, so supply will never really explode.
I would love it to be true that 473nm will have a huge price drop soon, but I really don't think prices will fall that much.

I would expect to see the prices of true blue diodes (440nm) to drop somewhat once laser TVs and displays become more common. DPSS blue will not be commonly used for these kinds of applications due to inherent instabilities that DPSS lasers tend to exhibit.

My 488nm argon is my favorite also, of those that I have seen at least. But out of all wavelengths 593 has to be my fav.

Sorry for say you this, but you had to make all the choices selectable, imho ..... otherwise, peoples like me, that like all the laser types, cannot decide .....

..... or just add a "all the existing ones" choice :p :D

But say you had a row of all the wavelengths listed and you could see all the beams infront of you on a nice foggy night, which pen would you go and pick up to play with first :p

All together, ofcourse ..... why limit your fun to a single one ?

:D

Ok, ok, can say ..... uhm ..... if they was all the same power, then ..... blue, green, yellow, in this order, then all the rest ;) ..... for the available powers, instead, green first (but just cause i've not yet seen a 500mW blue pointer :p :D)
