I asked to Arenared to send me his data, to be added in the datasheet.
Looking at the 8x members, if I'm not wrong also Pseudolobster has a LG BH08 installed in his DX sku. 13806. Unfortunately no data are available for it.

I've always been very interested in what diode LG chose for their next higher speed Writer..

Especially since we've seen both 4x's and 6x's from them...

Who knows, maybe the next sled the Chinese can procure is just an LG 8x, since they already have a "foot in the door"...

Cummon . . . Aim for the stars.

Buffalo re-brands drives. Buffalo already has their 10X out in Japan! I don't recall if his one is an LG or a Panasonic drive.

Peace,

LOOKY -- LOOKY WHAT I FOUND . . . . . . . .

fig4.jpg

I have several S03 sleds here. This is it. Unfortunately, this is from an article published in JUNE of 2007!!!

Blue-Violet Lasers Evolve toward Next-Gen DVDs -- Nikkei Electronics Asia -- July 2007 - Tech-On!

Notice too that the write speed of the sled above is only 2X for SINGLE layer. Now the write speed in the 8X's are still only 2X for "BD-RE", but for "BD-R" it is 8X and these speeds are for double layer.

I know that this will come as quite a shock to us, but it would appear that our Chinese friends may have lied to us again

(and I really did get a freak)

Peace,
dave

I built arenas LG 8x.

ask him what current i set it to, I dont remember

He will though,

Dark

Actually..

you didn't build it.. . you sent all the parts back along with some extra goodies , and refunded my money because you said you couldnt build them.

which im glad because it forced me to learn how to put them together.

That would explain why he couldn't remember. It would appear that the case of DAoO gets curiouser and curiouser the more we look at it.

nooooooooo! Oh well, saving for a 203 now. Thanks for the info.

PM me about what you want me to do with the S03 (of yours) that I have

Dont get me wrong , I understand that he had problems getting the diode out of the heatsinks and did not want to destroy the diode.

To me that is more important and honest than just messing it up .

DAoO is a great guy and more than made up for it.

I would still have him build me a 7 color ! :)

oh noes!
well, good find, dave, this explains a lot I fear!

seems like in the future we should do this more organized. like only one person gets several sleds, perhaps 5, and checks them thoroughly. if they have to be paid, perhaps with a fund from members and shops here. when they turn out good, these shops and members get the sleds earlier or cheaper.
this all would form against a marked and competition. but it would perhaps avoid such desasters, which wasnt the first time.. and would strengthen the negotiating-power of such a tester with the chinese, since he is the only one, but with potentially large numbers.
but then, perhaps its still better the current way? small setbacks from time to time, but healthy competition, which brought LOC and 803 sleds to curiously low prices by the time..
