Who bought that awesome host last listed here?

For the first one can you show pictures of the focus ring off the host and does it have a setscrew and is it covered? Also it would be good to see the Tailcap screw of by itself too.

Thanks,

Well, that sure helps, excellent photo's, I bet they will sell better now, the other photo's just didn't do your work justice.

Recently received a host from Ehgemus, the one with the acrylic tip. Took only 7 days to get here in Canada, I love it! In fact I loved it so much I bought one of his carbon fiber wrapped hosts, before the Canadian dollar plunges :p

Ended up throwing a 700-900mW of 520nm diode in it, check it out:

Looking forward to receiving the next host!

Looks great, can you push the module back some to close the gap between the focus ring and heatsink?

Just curious, what power output did you set the driver for? Or, if you don't know that, what current did you set it for? Also, what kind of duty cycle do you get with this host at that setting? Thanks. :D

Yes I ended up doing so, all the pics I have taken so far was before I added thermal paste and set it in place. I had it out a little so it was easy to take out to be able to apply some :)

The driver is a built in X-Drive, with a 1.8A output. Bought the module w/X-Drive from DTR. It's rated for a 6V-9V input, two 18350s run it perfectly. Max duty cycle it probably around 2 mins 45 secs on, 30-40 secs off. Very surprised with this result, I think the applied thermal paste ended up being helpful!

Nice. Here is the one I built with the NDG7475 in it. I believe it was 1.5 or 1.6 watts. It was crazy bright. The focus adapter lit up so brightly that you can't see the beam in some pictures. Lol. Ehgemus is the man.

Thanks, That's good to know. I use a diamond thermal compound that I make myself with 50% silver heat sink compound and 50% diamond powder by weight. It is a very fine grit. Using synthetic diamond powder makes it extremely thermally conductive.

Very interesting. Have you tested it to compare it quantitatively with traditional silver paste?

I was going to, but since I didn't plan on selling it, and because I had some medical issues arise, I never got around to it. I had planned on using some accurate thermistors to test, but never got them ordered. The thermal conductivity of diamond is about 2300 W/m X K, which is over five times that of copper. Synthetic diamond has a greater amount of the C12 isotope over natural diamond which gives it a bit higher thermal conductivity. I used a grit which is .001 microns and is fine as dust. I got the idea of making it from a company that actually sells the stuff, but it is far too expensive from them. I ended up buying 300 grams from Alibaba and they are still trying to sell me more over two years later.
