Windows 10 , Have you?

I reserved my upgrade, haven't heard anything since. Meh.

I made the mistake of getting an SSD for my laptop only. It was such a significant change that I had to go buy one for my desktop as well. Best $100 upgrade I've ever done.
 





You can use the tool I linked to earlier to "skip the queue" ARG .

SSD's are astonishing. I have a 512Gb SSD in my gaming rig.. From button press to usable desktop is 8 seconds..it actually takes longer to shut down! .

Same here! Got a lenovo y70 recently that came with a horridly slow HDD and win8...blech!! Got myself a 512gb SSD and win7, and I am lovin' the thing. The original WD harddrive had a write speed of something like 25mb/ps- no thank you!

Just did that, thanks! :)

Got it running on my Surface pro 3, feels much more friendly for touch screens.
 
i have an oculus rift so i cant yet, not until they update the OSVR and runtime for it to support windows 10. even then i might not get it, my best friend who knows WAY more about computers than i do said its "like pouring liquid ass into your computer"... word for word. ill have to look into it more though, as everyone here seems happy.

The people who slate it normally have had an issue with it. People always listen to that 1 person, not the millions upon millions who haven't had a problem with it.
 
It listens to you for verbal commands, how convenient. Now everything you say at home is floating around in the cloud. The Orwellian nightmare looms ever closer.

You can turn it off. Having your voice commands sent to a server is a necessary evil, voice recognition would not be where it is today without the Fourier transformations from the users.

New updates always hurt compatibility with older tech. I just keep up to date so that when I have to upgrade all my stuff will still work. If it isn't broke don't fix it only works for so long before it's broke because it's considered legacy equipment :p

This is why I don't plan to go back to windows. Does apple do that same thing though?

I'm waiting a bit to install windows 10 on my laptop... I probably would right away but my internal sound card is disabled due to some bios modifications I had to have done to accept my GTX 870M....

Woops.

Just upgraded this morning and everything seems fine. I was a bit nervous about it because my laptop is quite old and outdated, but it seems to run as smoothly as 7 did.

Finished setting up all my files and programs on Windows 10 yesterday and used it for a few hours, while the touch interface on the Surface has improved a lot it's REALLY buggy during extended use, to the point of being unusable.

Hopefully this will get sorted out in the next month or it's back to Windows 8.1.

I'm rather disappointed by this, there's no excuse for having significant bugs in hardware that is made by the same company as the OS...


Everything else has been working the same, or better.

:crackup::crackup::crackup: Oh man, if someone thinks apple hasn't been doing the same thing for years already, they got another thing coming!

Privacy is a joke anymore. Anything you use, phone, computer, whatever, is sending data constantly (think:NSA). Win10 is especially bad though.

Put it on a laptop that was running 8.1. Have say it's quite snappy, and no issues so far.

My understanding is MS just rolled out some updates last night as a day one fix basically.

New desktop that I just bought with 8.1 will be going to windows 10.

Not so sure I will be upgrading my old home pc or my older work pc though, mostly because I'm not 100% in their windows 7 validity, and how well that would play with the upgrade to 10.

Really sole reason I'm upgrading is support... windows 10 seems to work reasonably well, and it's going to be supported until 2025 or so... windows 7 support is going to last a while too, but nowhere near as long, and there are things like booting up that 7, just isn't doing so well with.
