Is a white laser possible?

I know that's a super newb question but is it possible to combine enough lasers into one beam to make it white?

Rifter, if you ever get a blue laser try combining the dots of your 635, 532 & blue laser's together and take a picture ;)

Tried it with my 532nm, 635nm & 473nm and got white light(even though it's just colors on top of one another).

I have a PL450B diode and driver sitting on my desk im just waiting for my C6 host from survival laser and then I will do exactly that :)

The issue is the 638 and 532 are 5mw and the blue will be 80-120mw or so lol, I do have a 50mw 532 as well though I could throw in there.

You can also pump Pr:pAYAC with 445nm to get white. Good luck finding the Pr:pAYAC though :p

How do you think RGB/RGV/RGBV lasers work? ;)

Combining a decent ratio of all 3/4 (sometimes 5/6) colors.

Basic combos include 1 red, green, and 1 blue.

Though they can get as complex as VBBGRR. Sometimes people use 642 and 660 or 445 and 473, or 445 and 457.

Can get complicated, but yes, it can be done, and it's done all the time :)

As a matter of fact, I personally own a gas whitelight. ArKr's do blue, yellow, and red (some do green, but the optics on mine prevent it).

The two most common ways to get a white laser are Argon-Krypton gas lasers (argon provides the blues and greens while the krypton provides the reds and yellows) or individual red, blue, and green wavelengths combined in the right proportions to give white. The latter is how laser projectors do it.

Yes. Use the relative brightness product of response to calculate individual wavelengths of light using average human reponse so that equal colours are mixed into a single beam. Its probably best done with some optics, such as dicroics and mirrors, although I have never actually built one.

Sam's Laser FAQ - Items of Interest << once again...

Snell's law in physics states that white light, i.e. a mix of colours will not be possible because diffraction patterns will yield inconsistent beam patterns when passing through media, namely, glass or acrylic lenses. That is why you must collimate laser beams before you use dichros. It'll be a mess to do so though, 3 or more modules and lenses in perfect formation is rather difficult.

Just look at my review of the one laser in reviews.

Not only is it white and handheld it's every color.
