wannaburn: Visually is the beam a lot more bright than with a single diode? Im really curious to see how this compares to a regular build visually.

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

as a matter of fact I DID search with GOOGLE!!!!!!

and when you write TEC nothing similar at all shows up in my search ...
so...thanks for the enlightenment and the "funny" jokes :D:D:D:D

It seems you didn't try very hard to find it.....
Do you know about Google Search...

Thermo Electric Cooler......

Hahahahahahaha! Jerry...
It's like, uhhhh..... Did you even try, AT ALL?

Man.... you can really read between the lines....

Re: The worlds most powerful handheld 445..... 3.5W 2 LD array

Hello All,

Been a while since I was around, but this build requires a Great Job post.

Nice to still see some familiar peeps around.

Got to say wow on this and the upcoming builds.

Question I have is, any patent stuff secured on your designs?

You may have already, or something, but I sure would have that covered. Coming from someone who lost many millions of $$$'s on a stolen design and product. And what you have there and what you have planned, looks like stuff I would have covered.

Could pay off big in the end.

Just a thought from a voice from the past.

Thank You,
Joe

That's strange.... I must be on another planet...or
my computer is "special"... or perhaps in Canada we get
more info with Google....
I just did a Google search with only the word TEC...

2nd hit...
TEC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under Other uses...

3rd use down.....
Thermoelectric cooling, a process using the Peltier effect to create a heat flux between two

A newbie like myself would only dream of getting anywhere near 200 miles of that laser (or whatever the beam length would be...)

.... on second thought, maybe not

I get the same results as you lasersbee. Maybe the Wiki just didn't catch his eye or he didn't look down far enough in the Wiki.

Beyond that, It would have to be some setting/switch he has set at his machine (or server) or his country has a block on WikiPedia

Research is a skill that is learned, not a talent that one is born with ;)

Peace,
dave

4th result for me.

Really wish google would release the code for their search algorithms. I know they never will, but nice to dream.

Just like you said in another thread the other day Dave, " a saw and tape doesn't have much of a learning/skill curve"

Google shouldn't have much of a skill curve hahaha!

Looks damn nice. Reminds me of an RPL (the host)...

You know what they say about Class IV! The sky is the limit!

Rock on!

@Wannaburn
I envy your work!
Best I could get using two A140 diodes, Axis 3 lens, coated PBS, is 1.8 Watt! And these diodes are running in series @ 18V 1.6A!

In mine its setup with 2 drivers running just under 1.5A and 405-G1 lenses..
This is probably where im picking up the extra mW.

Though 1.8W is a bit low for the power you are running.. When you say 1.6A
it that the total for both LD's? or 1.6A each?

Try running 1 driver per LD even at a safe current of 1.2A~1.5A and
you should see a jump in power. Depending on the driver you're using
if they get hot, it can also affect the output..

Best thing to do is avoid drivers that make any heat. Buck type switching
drivers are your friend :D

Using a Flexmod N3 at those ratings. Each diode should be receiving 1.6A as I'm using 18V input. They connected in series.
I wanted them both on one driver so I could modulate them simultaneously.
But thanks for the advise....Perhaps I should try 2 seperate flexmods...
