OPTICAL COATED DICHROIC MIRROR SEMI CYLINDER LASER OPTICS BIN#Y3-96 | eBay
s-l500.jpg

Looks to me as a mirror on a cylinder. A cylindrical surface does not look that it was polished. Maybe the design required that shape to hold in a tight space, maybe something else :undecided:

looks like they truncated a mirror substrate and put the mirror on the flat ground off spot instead of the end. they do that sometimes and mirror coat prism faces too so the mirror stands on its own. dunno why they didn't do that...odd. maybe it had to be in an alcove that was round so it could be rotated. prolly an argon (or HeCd, less likely) dielectric mirror judging by the color.

Wow, I never expected to see the price that low so soon, I remember when a watt of 520 nm was a thousand bucks just a couple of years or so ago. I wonder if the diodes you linked to are capable of 1.4 watts?

It sure looks like it on Dtr's sight:)
Iv'e been wanting to do a 1W+ 520 phaser build for a while, but other bills keep getting in the way. Just might be a good thing that iv'e been keeping it off for a while as these M01T's are down to $129 at Dtr:thinking:

Wow that's cheap for 1watt of green. Need to replace my m140 in my single color pj.. 1watt of 520 will make some real bright beams and sheets

Robinson sells the NDG7475T 1 watt 520nm laser diode on his web site for twice the price of these, this is a GBall model and it's current rating is 1.7 amps, not sure this will do the 1.4 watts the NDG will do, but if it will take 2.5 amps, it might. Since this is a gball, I would leave that lens in it, not sure if there is inert gas behind the ball or what, but there have been some early failures of the 07E laser diode which use that lens when you uncap the diode to the open air, except the NUBM44, that one doesn't seem to care.

My bet is this won't do 1.4 watts, otherwise why sell the NDG7475T at twice the price, just because it uses a sealed diode without the gball?

Tricky as always 0.9W not 1W. Those are the NUGM02's projector pulls that have popped up no tinning on the bottom with tinned pins. I have some on the way which should be here tomorrow or Monday. I have been told they are slightly lower efficiency than the NUGM01's but I will put up a testing thread when I get them. They supposidly match this datasheet which says they are 900mW rated. I just hope they are not the 500mW version of a ball lens that can be over driven to right about 1W.

This was my thought as soon as I saw the Gball lens. It may leave you in an impossible situation. You can't get a collimated beam with the Gball and you can't get longevity if you remove it. Too bad. I guess that is the reason for the cheap price.

At 2.2A, my 01T was doing just a hair over 1300mWs and it seemed to handle the current very well. The run-times were good as well, but I'm always too paranoid to run mine for very long:p. It was using the Gball(Stock?) lens on it as well. I'm sure if it was taken care of correctly it could hit 1400:)

I do like the Gball lenses though. Sometimes the are a little off on one of the axis, but I think they do a fine job of focusing the laser:D

Edit: Just read DTR's post. Looks like these a slightly different than the 01T?

Robinson got back to me about those 1W 520 nm laser diodes, he said they won't produce 1.3 watts, they are however fully rated to 1 watt output. He might just be answering in regard to their stated rating, so not sure.

Yea got them in today. Will try to get a testing thread on them tonight if I get time.

I wonder what the spot looks like, I would run it with the GBall intact even though I have not tested any de canned greens, blues I will not de-can, still if it prints half way decent I like it.

I wonder what the purpose is, maybe it's more efficient than the stronger 01 ?

Can you snap a pic of the spot at 5 meters or so through the intact factory lens?
