100% true, I wont say what but, I got arrested like a couple months ago and the cop was very nice and told me if I corporate and told the truth Id just get a warning and wont be charged with any Felony's or Misdemeanors. I gave up and told the truth, I got charged with a misdemeanor. I was then told that cops can Legally lie, to get evidence. You can imagine how angry I was. :undecided::gun:
 Did you get the whole "we don't want this to turn adversarial with a lawyer" spiel too?
Bottom line is cops are absolutely, legally, allowed to lie. As such the only information you are required to give them is your name. After that, you ask for a lawyer and shut up.
There is a reason why they say "Anything you say, can and will be used against you..." it's the only honest thing they say
They had everything they needed, I was even wearing the same clothes, and my license plate was on the camera. I doubt even the best lawyer could of gotten me out of that one.
Confession are always a lot less work and easier for them. With court, there is always a chance you could get off. Maybe the camera angle wasn't good. Maybe someone wears the same clothes as you do? Maybe this was an area where you weren't supposed to have been filmed, or maybe it wasn't you driving the car.
In the end there are a LOT of maybe's and a lawyer might not even try to get you off, but will work on a better deal for you... of course never trust a public defender who wants to plea bargain as soon as he walks in the door.
Triple Edit: Not sure who I like less, cops or lawyers. Both are a necessary evil at best.:undecided:
