I'm posting this here because I believe it could be a win for the United States of America

The problem with that is finding the products you need that are made here. Try to find electronics such as cell phones or TVs made in the US. It might be a little easier to find clothes made in the US. Vehicles might be assembled in the US. A lot of them are made using stuff from overseas though. Or they are foreign companies. They might provide US jobs but a lot of the money still goes back to the company. For the average consumer, food, furniture and firearm type products have the highest percentage of products made in the US from what I can tell. You have homes too. But I'd say most people only buy one or two in their lifetime unless they move a lot.

There are a lot of oter things made in the US that a lot of avergae consumers probably never use. Some of them are probably stuff such as converyor belts used in factories. Then you have aircraft.

I even noticed that some lumber I bought for a project came from Germany.

It's a far more complicated problem than that, with unintended consequences. For example the US government takes very nearly this approach to buying the products they need. In fact a bid will often be awarded specifically on the basis of the fact that the product is manufactured in the US.

Does it make fiscal sense though? The answer is probably not. Not when the US made product is usually 3-5 times more expensive, and sometimes more. Guess who gets to pay 3x times more, or likely 10 times more after the government bureaucracy is through? You do.

I was recently stumped by the fact that I could not recommend a US made flashlight to a friend with the specs similar to what I already own. Why? Because they don't exist, and the nearest ones were 3 times the price.

Woah a serious discussion! But yeah I agree it's really hard to find competitively priced products that aren't outsourced. I go out of my way most of the time to try and get US made products because honestly I dont really trust how the Chinese make some of their products and the materials they use.
