Fantasy light saber. C'mon guys, that's about it really. That's why there are NO women interested in lasers per say. It's a Star Wars fantasy toy. All the practical applications mentioned can be done with very low powers. The fantasy light saber is the only application that requires more than 10 mW.
I'll step out on a limb here and suggest that I also believe the laser light show crowd is also stuck on the light saber fantasy. The drawing of wire frame cartoonish characters is little more than colorful pissing in the snow, in my opinion. How many women are involved in THAT industry?
Enjoy the fantasy. Don't get all defensive about it. I like seeing laser beams from a spiritual and Feng Shui perspective. They're representative. They can burn things, but what's the point of that unless you're doing it for industrial purposes. They can make a target for pet attention, but without the ability to ever catch it, I think it's cruel to torment them with it. Again, just my personal opinion.
I started the Laser Blast thread here to see what we can come up with that goes beyond the fantasy, if gathered together with our toys. Some contest of skill perhaps? A contest of power for each wavelength? Show 'n tell? Integration with art? New product ideas?
my bff likes burning things. she drew pics in a wooden board i have... so some chicks do find them interesting
