Who here is feeling gassy?

probably like 5W or so, I think I was at 25A-28A

Nice one!

I wanted to ask - do you notice the colour change as you ramp up the current? IIRC the green lines have more gain than the blue lines at higher currents, so does the colour shift?

Yup! It's more blue at idle, and as you go up it shifts more to the green side. Pretty neat!

I don't think so, but I don't think i've ever diffracted the beam at full tilt. I think the highest I got was like 28A and it started melting the (very robust) holographic disc we were using to split the lines.

Damn that's cool! Always wondered about that after I heard about the green gain being higher when the current is higher! :D

While I don't have anywhere near a 5W argon, my lil Uniphase does 5 lines at idle, adding the 502nm line as the current ramps up to full.. This causes the beam to go from slightly bluish to a greenish turquoise.

haha , that's cool! I'll need to see if I can get the current to vary on my ALC60 when it arrives. That or I can just have fun with that and my PM21 and other new toys ;).

Only got a 2211-20SLE just now, with no fan. So I can't do much until I get a fan. :p

Cheers!
