Which host for Nichia 445 nm 3.5@5W? Custom Zaser XL or Cypreus II XL?

Hi.
I have bought two different hosts: a Cypreus II XL and a custom Zaser XL (bigger head -> 53mm diameter and one extra cooling fin added). I'm in doubt what kind of host use with the new Nichia 445 nm 3.5W@5W: Cypreus II or the Zaser XL? Any suggestion?

Yea I would go with a C-88 they have a large contact area between the heat sink and the host so the heat can get out when your carving your name in that tree trunk, here it is>

This host can take a 26650 and your going to need that kind of power for 3.5W

Good luck...

Cypreus II XL will give you nice transfer away from the diode but low heat capacity. Zaser will give you good heat capacity but less efficiency at drawing it away. IF I am remembering my facts correctly. Otherwise it is vice versa. Anyway. Point being, you will probably not see an appreciable difference in Duty Cycles between the two.

Take the following into consideration:
Battery Life. How big of batts can it hold?
Does it look good? (If that is important to you)
Do you care about really long duty cycles?

I would go with the Cypreus-II. I've been thinking of using one for the same diode.

With either of your current host options you will need a buck driver, and currently there aren't any buck drivers available that do over 3 amps.
Lazeerer has one in the works but until then the only way you're going to drive that diode to it's full potential is with a dual boost driver set-up.

If it was me personally I would put it into a Cypreus II standard host with dual x-boost, each set at 1.8 amps, giving an output of 3.6 amps,
running of a single 18650. You could buy two of the x-boost drivers set at 1.8 amps from Flaminpyro and secure them on the double sided pill.

If you haven't already, read this thread by IWIRE: http://laserpointerforums.com/f65/introducing-deuces-wild-5-4w-89077.html

Thanks for the hints dudes!
Since I'm working to a hybrid beam expander for the Zaser (half Laserglow, half Jetlasers), and since the 3.5W Nichia diode has a noticeable divergence and a large dot line, I decided to use the Zaser XL build.
It seems that half of the Earth is waiting for the new ramp up driver from Lazereer. :eg:
The last time that I have spoke with him (about 1 months ago, aka the last time when he have visited the forum), he told me that the driver is ready at 80%. I'm waiting this driver because I want to use it in three differents builds: the c-mount red stubby kit by Jayrob (for me, an old sad tale), the 3.5W Nichia blue diode, and the 1W 520 nm Nichia diode.
