Where to Buy G9 Lens

Hi all,

So I like the G9 lens better than the G2 and I was wondering if there is any vendor who would sell lens from defective 7875 diodes. Been searching around but can't find any.

Also anyone knows where to get lens holders for cheap? I found an S1 lens from a group buy a few years but I am not sure where to get a holder.

Cheers

I'm a bit confused..A G9 is a Gball diode lens?
Also you have a S1 lens only and looking for a barrel for it?

The G9 is a short FL high efficiency single element AR coated lens ( Much like the G2 ) that came glued to a little pedestal on some 7875 diodes.

Be aware there was also a wider single element glass lens that is not a G9 and wont fit holders, but Rickers has some with the G9, I have mounted some and they work just fine, also a nice diode that's no longer in production.

These are a bargain, get them before they are gone.

The G9's come with the 9mm diode and you can mount it in a barrel just like the G2.
I have S1 lens just by themselves so I need a barrel yeah.

Well I don't really have a need for the diode I was hoping just to get the lens alone.
This lens holder look like it will fit my S1. Thanks!

Hi GSS,
Yes i really don't use them but may try one on a build for the heck of it.

Hey, Red. I purchased several of those brass lens holders for aspheric lenses. Do you happen to know how long the barrel is on them? I have a lot of different FL lenses that are loose and was wondering how much threading I have to work with.

Shop around for plano-convex aspheric lenses.

Hey, Red. I purchased several of those brass lens holders for aspheric lenses. Do you happen to know how long the barrel is on them? I have a lot of different FL lenses that are loose and was wondering how much threading I have to work with.

The ones I received I bought for 99 cents each, they have the brass barrel with the silver retainer and they are 9.5mm long by 9mm wide, that is they are the standard M9 x 0.5 and 9.5mm long. The 99 cent barrels retainer has a smaller retainer hole that could be an issue with highly divergent diodes, I use the Sanwu G2 with C-lens builds as it's a shorter FL and has the widest openings.

---edit---

I have one in use with a BDR-209 and it is long enough with a thumb wheel.

Here is a DTR G2 next to the 99 cent empty barrel.

The retainer on DTR's barrel has a wider opening, but as small as the beam exits the G2 it's not an issue, maybe on the more divergent diodes such as the 44 and mitsu 638 the retainer hole may need to be drilled, actually I have been using Sanwu G2's for my C-lens builds and they have a wide opening.

The Sanwu G2 lens actually sticks out a little at it's center, it is a shorter FL lens than the standard G2 as I demonstrated in a couple of videos before and this is why the Sanwu G2 works with the 3XBE along with a 6X C pair where as the standard G2's beam over expands inside the 3XBE after 6X-C lens correction but the Sanwu 6X corrected beam fits the 3XBE, granted a bigger/wider for it's power BE could be used with the standard G2 but why, I would use the Sanwu lens anyway, also BE's that wide for low power are hard to find, truth is Sanwu made these for our favorite MM diodes.

Look at the Sanwu G2 on the right, you can see light from underneath because it's lens is the only one that just touches the table at it's center.

THESE ARE ALL OUTPUT ENDS.

Sanwu really stepped up with some great affordable optics, their G2, G7, and 3XBE are fantastic.

.................

Thanks for sharing those. I always thought they were all the same but I have a lot more admiration for Sanwu's design. I actually ordered a G7 but I might also order those as they look fantastic.

Also a big thank you for Rich for being superduper awesome!
