I didn't know that. Looking forward to hearing more about it. Will I be able to measure my 0.00001mw laser with it though ;) (just joking around in case you miss the wink smiley).

It would be great for the Desktop applications to be based on java for cross platform benefits.

One thing I have found out with all of these thermal input meters,
is that you need a draft-free room for accurate measurements.
When I was doing some Red diode testing one late cold night,
the heater vents were affecting the power readings I was obtaining.

If ambient temperature and/or draft is a problem for your Scientech, I have a couple of different enclosures available

The thermopile fits inside the enclosure. The one with the extension is basically just a draft shield. The one without the extension is also solid filled with closed cell foam for insulation.

I was talking about the Kenometer Pro...
If there was something in the works for a new LaserBee product..
we wouldn't unveil it until is was ready for the Market...:cool:

For what you want to test... have a look at this one... it seems the
price has dropped since we bought one....

Thanks for the link. I actually found a Sper cheaper than that (around $200) somewhere which seemed to have the same specs but I can only get one for now and the need for higher mw ranges (500mw+) means I am was better off with a Laserbee I or Kenometer PRO. I decided to get the Kenometer PRO. I will just have to wait until I have more funds to get a smaller range meter for the 0.5mw range and decide then if it will be worth the cost to get better accuracy at 0.5mw. It would be great to have a handheld unit though... I could then take it to the stores and test the cheap 1mw lasers if the lasers are sold without packaging :). One day. I am over that for now though. Bring on the Kenometer PRO! :).

The LaserCheck is good if you need a quick check in the field because
it is small and fits into a pocket..

One of the problems with it is that is does not test 405nm very well
and if you are testing a 532nm Green Laser without IR Filters the reading
will be way off because it is an Optical Sensor and you have to adjust it
to read one wavelength at a time...

It also has a very small non backlit LCD screen that is almost impossible
to read while you are taking a reading (we have 2 in the Shop)

Brand new it costs $365.00USD plus shipping...

Lasersbee has a Coherent LaserCheck. It appears he got it from someone else on this forum who claimed it was pretty far off on readings(30%). On another forum someone else mentioned maybe that is why they specifically used the word *check* in the name to imply it is not as accurate :).
 
J.BAUER Electronics has 2 LaserChecks...
One brand New From Coherent and one from a member on
another Forum... The one here had some issues and we passed on it..

The one from Coherent cost us over $500.00 by the time we paid shipping...
Brokerage Fees.. Duty and Taxes.

That is speculation (*check*)... The LaserCheck is stated as +/- 5% accurate...
