What lights do you have?

Hey antimony-you seem like an LED whiz-can you confirm this for me? Standard cool white LEDs have a blue emitter and a yellow phosphor, while warm white LEDs have the same gallium nitride blue emitter but multiple phosphors. Is this correct?
 





I don't really know the details as far the exactly how LED's work, more like how to use them. But I can tell you that is correct. That is why if you use an LED with an aspheric lens and project the LED onto a wall or ceiling it displays th exact shape of the emitter along with the colors the of the light emitting surface. You would see that the edges are blue and the inside is yellow. Or from one side to another the color fades from blue to yellow. Also, if you power up the LED without any lens or reflector you can see that the hotspot is blue and the edges are yellow. But when you use a reflector the light that is usually on the edge is reflected into the hot spot, thus making the hot spot more yellow-ish. But the difference between the blue light and yellow light is very minimal. As far as "warm white" goes, i'm not exactly sure. I never use warm white LED's.

@alantch-WOW, those lights are sexy. I really want to pick up an HID at some point or another, but I think LED tech might be beating it soon here. Maybe a surefire LED is next. They have AMAZING customer support. I know one CPFer went in with a busted tailcap and they upgraded his bulb, lens and reflector for free as well without him asking.

LED tech is already ahead, just a bit more expensive. An HID has to ramp up for a few seconds, and still takes minutes to reach full brightness. It is a TIGHT fit. Two unprotected 18650's will fit so tightly that you cant use a spring in the tailcap. Also you have to remove some of the anodizing on the inside of the tailcap. The 2C Mag is a great size for a flashlight, and is durable as hell.

I have a nice little touch sensitive flashlight that runs off two AAAs. I never use it because it's battery usage conflicts with my pointers... Lol. :crackup:
 
^I can see that you're not really into flashlights yet. :D Always bring extra batteries! I don't know how you live without a light, though.

That's what I figured... Wouldn't you get more runtime from Li-Ion C batteries?

for work i have a stream light helmet light, xenon and led. I have a little utility Nova light that has a hat attachment, magnet attachment, and belt clip. The lights are led, red amber and white with SOS strobe, reg strobe and constant.

for fun i have a streamlight 7.2v xenon and a sure fire g2 led with the nitrolon body.

also a few mags. and i put the guts of a dorcy led host into a project box with a ddl driver lol

One of the brightest lamps available in general lighting: 105,000 Lumens.

Not much "throw" to it, though. And I think the battery life is almost as bad as an Iphone.
 
I have a 47s quark aa neutral tint with aa2 spare body and a fenix e01 for decent lights. Couple of cheap led lights more fitting possibly being used as hosts for lasers but i have no machining tools nor skills to so so.

Battery life? What could you possibly put that into? Whatever it is, I wouldn't think it uses batteries. lol
