I will very much look forward to your review.

I have the TK75, and although mine has a minor problem, (mode button does not work every time) for which I will be sending it back to exchange, I do find that it is the best all purpose light I own. Plenty of flood up close, and lots of throw, all in a relatively small package.

With the RC40, I'm concerned about having to use their battery packs, but considering the battery pack is supposed to be 7.4v, hopefully they will just be using two 22650, or 32650 batteries.

Just saw this thread and thought Id chime in.

Won a couple of Crelants a while back; the 7G5CS and the 7G3CS. Both absolutely amazing lights and the throw with the aspheric head is phenomenal! :drool: The 5CS is a little too large for an EDC, but the 3CS is perfect. Both have the mode switch on the side, which makes them very versatile and user friendly.

I also have a Sipik 98 and a Poppas (review of mod here), both of which run on a single 18650 and have zooming aspheric heads. To be honest I really like the feel of the Sipik and it has become my EDC. Well actually I didn't have much choice...my other half rather liked the look of the 3CS...:beer:

I'm waiting on a 7g3cs replacement. The one I got, the LED was off center... but yeah, IMO it's a perfect EDC, it has a bit of throw to it (not much), completely variable output, and it's 18650.

Currently I'm carrying a modded skyray 16340 light, and have lights in car, office, home, but I will certainly enjoy the extra 18650 capacity.

For the 7g5cs, I'm having mine modded... with a fully driven driven new led, and some copper, I think it will put to shame most other throwers. Maybe not the TN31mb but just about everything else.

From the not so pocket sizes, I have a friend's terminator BS right now... so my thousand lumen+ collection consists of two skyrays, the apex 5t6, terminator blackshadow, elektrolumens big bruiser, and fenix tk75.

The Apex is still my go to emergency light... no parasitic drain, you can leave your batteries in there indefinitely, and it does beat out the skyrays. I just wish it had a bit more throw.

The Skyrays, considering the price, are just an incredible buy, considering how much light you get. I'm not a fan of the parasitic drain, or the bad waterproofing.

The BlackShadow terminator is a fantastic light, the build quality is excellent, it's bright, has some throw to it. It also has the ridiculously bright lit, LED power button, and you have to cycle through all modes every single time though... better UI, turned down LED power button, a mechanical button to eliminate parasitic drain would make take this light from incredible to absolute must have.

The Big Bruiser is aptly named... just got it this past saturday. Haven't had a chance to really put it through it's paces, but easily matches the skyrays for power. Very hefty, and simple light. Hopefully next version will have some more options, but there is really nothing in this light that can fail. the only real downside is the run time... 20-30 minutes max.

The TK75 is the king... a dedicated, good thrower, will out-throw it, but it easily overpowers the others in throw, and has plenty of flood. The modes are also well spaced, although I wouldn't mind having moonlight mode, or beacon modes - hidden. With additional battery sections added, the run time is ridiculous.

If you dont mind me asking what emitter (and driver - you said direct driven, but Im guessing not fully?) are you going to use in the 7G5CS? I have been looking at the copper stars Ryansoh linked me to in my last thread and was wondering about the new XML-2 U2 emitters, or even the crazy MT-G2:eg:!! Youd have to modify the reflector to fit the latter however...:beer:

A friend of mine is really, really into flashlight modding, I gave it to him, and told him to go all out with it... the plan is for the XML-2 U2... I haven't read about the mt-g2. We also considered going with an sst90 or sbt, but price is too high, and the LED is too big to use with the aspheric... I want to preserve the ability to swap the aspheric, and non aspheric heads.

Not sure what driver he has in mind... direct driven is a possibility, but only as a last resort.

I only saw it yesterday, but it puts out 2,500 LM @ 4 A!!!:bowdown: It is however, a HUGE emitter, so it might not suit your purpose.

Wow, the MT-G2 is REALLY something :drool:

I've been wanting an SST90 light for a LONG time, but this... this is indeed the new king.

I don't think it would work in the crelant mod, but it's too big, and I think would be too much in terms of heat for the crelant to handle, but for a larger host, with more mass, and big deed reflector it would be perfect... Actually the TK75 design, with a larger reflector, and three of those, as well as three battery packs... 9000 lumens is possible.

Can't +rep you yet, system won't let me, but when it does I will... this is just AWESOME news

For the Nitecore EA8, IMO it´s just inefficient to not use Li-Ion Technologie and 8x AA instead.

That's kind of the whole point. That you can get that level of performance from the most readily available batteries out there.

If you go into a retail store and ask for 18650 batteries, 99% you're going to get a blank look back.

AA batteries on the other hand, are cheap, and available everywhere.

After hurricane Sandy, all local stores were selling AA batteries cheap... not one was selling more specialized batteries.

IMO you need to have at least one light that will run off of the most common batteries out there.
