So you mean HDDVD is a very cool name so they had to invent "blu-ray"?ArRaY said:perhaps because there was no competitor with a very cool name. So no need to invent one

john_lawson said:bluray here also ? why do they call an orange an orange and a banana not a yellow ?
Zom-B said:Offtopic: An orange is only called an orange in English. The name in dutch (Sinasappel) is derived from the name of the plant (Citrus sinensis) combined with apple.
Ontopic: Aside from daguin's point, I don't get why people keep calling diodes from HD-DVD drives a blu-ray. That's why I use "violet laser" nowadays in the hope that other people will call it that as well. I mean, we're all technical people here, not just dumb average population, right?
And to even more educated people HDDVD?LRMNmeyer said:I usually say violet laser, or to more educated people, blu-ray.
does it light up white clothes like a black light does? I've never owned one so I would'nt know. but soon I will hopefully ;DKenom said:I call it a bluray laser and a black light laser (which I notice you don't have on the list)
