Re: GB: SF-BW512 and BDR-S06J 12x Blu-Ray sleds for only $38.50!!!

Given the complexity of their order scheme, and the number of units required, I'm not sure this is worth it.

I'm yet to find out whether this source is reliable, but I just purchased 2x BW512s for $37.50 each AFTER all shipping (to Canada no less) and associated costs.

As mentioned, the $37.50 source (PSXBOY) is still "unkonwn" in my books, until I have evidence otherwise, but this source of yours sounds equally "unknown".

I'm not sure this is enough of a price break (if it is one at all) to make a GB worth the hassle?

Edit: Discussed it here:

I know people have ordered from psxboy in the past. It's been a while since i've heard their name mentioned though.

Well thanks guys! Thanks for screwing over my group buy by saying "oh, this company is cheaper"! This is considered a price break because it usually sells for 50.99 single, but i guess that doesnt matter at all. I guess i'll delete my post and forget the whole damn thing ever happened. :banghead:

Uhh. I never said anything about "this company is cheaper" Deal. So i hope that "You Guys" thing you are applying was not applying to me.

I was just trying to help you not get Screwed into getting these sleds and finding out that they are not the Real "BDR-S06J" sled but the 10X sled like in your picture

Sorry, Next time ill keep my mouth shut and not help and let you deal with all the sled you got were the 10x and not the 12x as your picture shows.

Please tell me what part of my post ruined your thread.

If you were trying to help the forum, then you should be pleased that more resources got funneled into your thread so that more people could get stuff cheaper.

If you were trying to turn a profit or trying to do it for some other personal hidden benefit, then you've missed the point of a GB and I'm pleased your thread got "ruined." Group buys are a community service, not a cash cow. If you want to sell things, go to the B/S/T forum or make a retail site.

Aaron,
Because you've never done any business with this company, it would be wise to request a sample from the company first.
Otherwise if you intend to call these 12x sleds without getting a sample, or sharing your source so we can verify this company's legitimacy, and organize a group buy for them, then your going to be responsible if you have 50 unhappy members who demand a refund because you gave them false information.

^^ That is exactly what i was trying to stop from Happening.

I was just trying to help.

I DID say "xyz company is cheaper", so I suppose the "You Guys" thing IS applying to me.

But seriously, isn't that type of dialog what you'd want to be hearing at the early stages? IE - Feedback on whether a GB was really beneficial, before spending a lot of your own personal time organizing it for everyone?

I wasn't being malicious in suggesting existing resources for equally cheap (or cheaper) purchases. In fact, I think I was open and straightforward about the fact that my suggestions weren't necessarily "trusted" or "reputable".

Edit: Though I'm sorry if I shot-down something you were excited about. That always sucks, even when the intentions weren't malicious. Sorry :(

Yeah, and I realize that super-secret sources are very important and you may not want to give it up which is perfectly fine. You just need to verify what these Chinese are saying It's the GB organizer's reputation that will be ruined if things go wrong, not the Chinese (Their reputation is already shit)

Not to mention you'll end up with 50 paypal disputes if things don't go right.

Moh, i have already bought from my supplier numerous times and they are a good company. Lazeerer, i wasn't implying that you did anything wrong. BTW, the BDR-S06J is in fact a 12x diode, but used in the same sled assembly as the 10x diodes. Trevor, the point of a secret source is to not have 40 different group buys all selling the same thing and with no buyers. Let this be the last post in this thread. It'll eventually slip into the section of older, forgotton threads and die peacefully.

Also, when it comes to the Chinese there are no secret sources. Most of the GB's and stores get their sleds from laser-xh.com

Daguin:
I've ordered from them on eBay. They're legit. In fact, pretty fast shipping - 10 days from China. Sort of blew me away. They work great.

That's good to hear.

The point, really, was simply that when looking at doing a GB, one must look around at what is available at retail. Once PP fees and shipping (both from China AND between the GB and the members) are factored in, is the lower price worth the extra effort and wait?

Peace,
dave
