Violet Laser + Glow-board = Awesome!

I know what you mean about the paint. Its not as 'full' or bright, compared to GITD plastic. If/when I have some spare cash, I'll probably grab one. THanks for pointing these out!

I made a nice 4 ft by 4 ft board using high intensity glow sheeting. SOOOOOO much fun.

Yeah that stuff is AWESOME. I put it on a particle board. I still want to get a frame built for it. Ever changing art hanging on the wall would be sick.
 
Thanks for the info bookmarked the page ill pick one up once i build my 405nm.......Does MW matter with these like to strong a laser would burn the bored up? if so maybe i will get it now with a cheapie 5mw

Hi, LtMazz, I haven't tried the glow-board with anything higher than my 20mW, so I can't say for sure. However, I image that the board would be like anything else.. if you are pumping out the watts, any surface might easily be damaged if it's too close or you leave the high watt beam in one spot for too long.

So I just tried a 5mW red laser pointer and a 5mW green laser pointer, and they do actually write on the board. However, the room you're in has to be very dark and even then it's still not all that visible.

As for your 150mW green laser, my guess is that it would do more than my 5mW green. But still, the best wavelength of light to use is less than 100nm less than your green laser.

I'd like to get my board framed too. Constantly changing interactive art.. too good to be true, lol.

I'm glad that my glow-board at least came with some mounting hardware.. very easy to install & hang :-)

That is very WEIRD. My board only reacts with blue and violet lasers. Green and red are an absolute no go. Even with a 1 watt green.

I think you are right the wavelength of green does absolutely nothing to fluorece the GITD material. It will not and should not make it glow.

I disagree, my GITD foam sheet glows slightly in the dark from a green or red laser from <5mW all the way up to 300mW, but what is strange is that a slight quick pass makes a dull glow line, but if I hold it in one spot(even with a 5mW) it makes a glow spot but the longer i hold it, a dark spot appears in the glow and remains, untill I hit it with a blu-ray, and then it glows normally, and when hit it with the viper(150mW), it makes a dark spot surrounded by a faint glow. Very unusual to say the least!:D

Oh, my bad it is the 405nm Violet laser pointer. lol, it depends on what surface it's shining on as to which color it looks most like (blue or violet).

Thanks for your consideration about my eyes, kingdave. We're looking for some safety glasses that cover the 405nm range and aren't 50 bucks. Closer to $10 or $20 would be much easier on my wallet.

I am curious now as to what the difference is between our GITD materials that allows green lasers to work on some and not others.

Same here! I have some europium based paint here (I think thats what it is) that does not react at all to green (532nm) I would like to see some video of green working on a GITD material.
