[UPDATE] V4 BlitzBuck, Available Soon!

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Are you sure that the Blitzbuck could be use for one cell to power a red diode ?

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Should be able to. Haven't tested it, but it should be able to.

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

The V3 could be modified to output that using the calculations earlier in this thread. Just take the potentiometer off and replace it with the correct resistor (noted earlier in the formula).

Does the same formula apply for blitzbuck v2 as well?
v3 does not fit into aixiz module does it?

Thank you for help!

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

The same formula does NOT apply to the V2. The V2 requires a high-wattage resistor. The formula for that is:

I=.8/R

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Wolfman29, thank you for your help!

For the v2 I'd be replacing that big resistor on the back side near the "3R0" part (an inductor?) am I correct?

Thank you!

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Yup. That's the resistor you will be replacing.

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Yes they are! There are only thirteen left in stock at CajunLasers though, so get 'em while they last! New supplies won't be at CajunLasers probably until the middle of August, so there may be a deficiency!

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Anybody know if you can mount the BB3 to the host or heatsink directly to the non component side. It looks just like a positve pad and negative outer ring.

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

That's exactly what it is. However, it is advised that you mount it where you would normally mount the battery contact pad.

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Okay, so I hooked up my other blitz buck and I added some small Al blocks on the IC and Inductor of this one. I hooked it up and it started doing the same thing.

I've asked my friend who is an electronics guru and he says my testload resistor is too small and too hot. I've only used my testload for a few <1A drivers before, so I guess the 2A current is too much for it. I'm going to go to the electronics store and get a 20W power resistor later.

Sorry for bugging you with this, I feel really silly now
:(
Don't feel to silly I have the same problem.

had a huge sink made for it with a drill hole for accessing pot.... had it hooked to a Pyro test load and sure enough current kept climbing. I went over these with a jewlers glass and saw nothing out of the norm. Tossing it I guess.:(

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Hey Wolfman,

I want to build a 2w laser, i have a host with 2 18350 batterys and the m140 laser diode.
Would it work with your BlitzBuck V3 ?

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Hey Jander. Sorry about that - not sure what's up? I know you have been in contact with Clif though.

@dom: Yes, assuming everything is assembled correctly, it should work.

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Ok :D

I saw that that its sold out... Do you know when it is available?

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Oh, didn't notice that! It'll probably be around two weeks or so until they are back in stock. But that's just a guess.
