[UPDATE] V4 BlitzBuck, Available Soon!

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Great that keeps the pot open then.. And I wouldnt think that it works like a linear where excess V drops out as heat... I am likeing it alot.. Just scraping the 3W with the 9mm.. gone just over a couple runs but not for very long it's settles in arround 2.85W.

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Yup. Can't wait till I can start producing the V4 en-masse!

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Well, first of all, the built-in heatsinking is better. Next, we have a larger potentiometer for more robust and easy turning. Finally, we have a higher-powered inductor and a secondary input capacitor.

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

kewl does that mean scrap the battery pads and then it can heatsink like the FMT. I was going to ask about that because that would be alot better for my build.

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Nope! The heatsinking is not required that much, and the battery pads means you don't need a contact pad :P

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Did you figure out why the contact board was covered in solder mask? If you want I can email you my eagle part for the battery contact. It's just like what I used in mohgasm round boards and benboost round boards, but I made it into an eagle part for easier use!

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Yeah, that was my bad - I checked hatch instead of solid on the polygon and it screwed me over =p Future battery contacts will be completely bare.

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

I love the IC on this too Looks alot easier to solder than them TSP's Looks like the same type of IC as the xdrive maybe a bit smaller but them ic's seem to work great with little heat and there large enough to put a good sink on if you need it.. According yo my dmm I can get 3.2A with the heatsinking.. if anyone wants a multi build. I'm breaking the 3W now on the 9mm stock ambient temp build so far.. not for long but it is there as a peak... after a bit of driver tweakin..

I guess my STAR cook decided it would be better to goto work than to go sit in a doctors office.. LOL I got him!!! :crazzy:

I can promise you this isn't he same IC as used in the X-drive ;)

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

Sorry I didnt want to imply that at all.. I know it's not the same.. maybe close to the same package though.. I have others like this too but they dont do the same tricks... I am afraid to do OVP tests... on some of them lol and some of these new ones are killin me cuz there expensive and hard to solder properly

Haha. Don't worry about. I know you didn't imply it, I just want to make it clear that I know, for 100% surety, that they are not the same ICs.

Regarding OVP tests... I haven't actually tested it purposely, but I remember I once hooked up a driver without a test load on accident and it came out fine. But I can do further testing once I get more boards in!

Re: BlitzBuck V3, Available Soon!

I feel like I am slipping into the twilight zone! OK well Mark me down for at leist 4 of the V4's... if you need funds just ask... I am going to test the other v3 today.. it does look like it is allready on high mode the bottom resistors seem to be bridged..
