I think they owe us all at least a 15% discount across the board on their products as a peace offering.

we should roast them alive, then feed them to the cannibals!!! (unless of course the agree to give us 15% store wide discount)

then again, if we do that, betty will post saying:

one person our makers die of eating yesterdays :) :) We ship later delay.I hope ok with everyone :)

I just cant wait to get my hands on my first greenie!!

Re: **** True >200mW 532nm S-KY PGL-200 handheld l

Regarding that 15% discount for the current delay, i don't think they are going to agree with that.  However, they have a policy for compensation when a delay occurs.  As stated on their site:

Normally, consign the products to Express, in 3 weeks, after the sellers receive the payment.  [highlight]Because of the sellers’ responsibility, delayed more than 2 weeks, the buyers has the rights to make claim against the seller, 1% of the Total Cost[/highlight].  Delayed more than 4 weeks, the buyer can request the sellers to cancel this sales contract and refund the payment.

Different destination countries will be different freight, more details please contact us in advance.

After we receive the cost and the freight, we can send the goods Via TNT, UPS, DHL, Fedex.

So there you have it, your smashing discount confirmed.
Now you can buy yourself exactly 1 beer on their expenses while awaiting arrival of your greenie  8-)

Cheers !

Got a tracking number for my shipment, this morning. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Re: **** True >200mW 532nm S-KY PGL-200 handheld l

Hi Guys, yes the first batch went out last night!

Here is the instruction manual

When you receive the laser, you may want to clean the threads on the battery contact and lubricate them for cood electrical contact and feel. This should probably be done every 5th time the battery is replaced, to keep the contact in optimal shape.
Betty said that it is best not to clean the lubricating oil on the threads.

And here are a few example plots of the power output of some typical lasers (note that each run will be different, and dependent on battery charge):
EG1.PNG

EG2.PNG

EG3.PNG

Also, Betty says that everyone who experienced the delay can get a 15% discount on their laser goggle selection.

Re: **** True >200mW 532nm S-KY PGL-200 handheld l

I got my tracking number a couple days ago too. Looks like I'll be having some fun soon. When I track my package though it says this

"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on March 13, 2008 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later."

Is this what yours says AMK?

yup. USPS tracking is worthless, because its updated after its delivered. its technically not "tracking", its priority mail + "delivery confirmation"

take the date they give you on the "electronic info", add 3 shipping days to it, and itl most likely arrive on that date (if its priority). Im expecting mine on Monday, maybe saturday if I am lucky.

Beat you all!

Got it a about an hour ago.

While opening, my face was grinning, while sliding the battery in, I was smiling.
The finish looked great, the threads felt nice, the key worked well, the shutter was cool, the box was nice, and the Dr.'s packing was great!
Found the graph provided by the Dr. in there as well, Thanks!

Then I turned it on, and cool, it at least worked!

I went to the Kenometer, and about fell out.  >:(
Fired up at only 150mw, and struggled for 200 within the first minute netting a 202 mw peak w/ 185+/- average.  :'(

I let it sit for about 30 minutes opened before firing it up at first to let it adjust to a nice room operating temp, as it is a bit cool out today and it felt pretty cold when opened.
But appearently, that was not enough, as after I let it sit for another 30 minutes while I cried wondering what to do, it lit my carpet on fire before I got it back to the meter.

So my hopes were up again, and boy did they get turned up.  :P

249 peak at 235+/- average over 3 minutes (after the first minute of warm-up)
It will hold 235 pretty stable anytime lit after warmed up for a minute or so first.
All w/ the battery down to 3.85 volts and below!

Let it sit back to room temp, and the first 30 seconds+/- it only shows 190-200, and then slowly creeps back up to it's 235 average within one minute.
So mine doesn't like it cold, it likes it HOT!

The highest spike I saw after warmed was 243mw and the lowest 230mw, with a 235mw stable for over three minutes!  8-)

(then I got a 75-80 reading and  :o, it was the shutter had closed half way while focusing, almost really scared me there!)

Focus seems to work well, but hard to tell/see how far you can colm it down for far-off burning.
You can easily bring it to close burning to within a foot, and closer if needed.
The Blue LED on-light worked good.
Also, mine has no time delay?
I thought it had one?
Glad it doesn't.
Dead-mans switch works just fine.

It gets warm, really warm, and the warmer it gets, the better mine seems to do.
So it shouldn't mind those hot nights in the summer.  :P
Personally, I would rather have a good performer after being warmed up-hot, not one that drops off to nothing when it gets hot after the first minute.

So I am very pleased.  [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

I can't see a deal out here anywhere that even compairs within double the price of this!  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Overall, what can I say, other than Thank God and also to Dr.L for staying on top of them, as well as S-KY for offering them up to us, even if it did take three months!
::)    :o    ;D    ;)

Now that it is broken in and warmed, I will have to go check with a fresh battery, maybe it will do even better now!

Can't wait to hear of others!!!!!!

Regards,
  Joe

Joe --

I always let a laser stabilize to room temp when shipped in cold weather.  I don't want to shock it.  And that shutter has scared me a couple times too.
Glad it works.

Update,

Not so sure again now.
              :-/

I slipped in a new battery, (4.12-volts) and it fired at 185mw and sat there for over 45 seconds before it slowly climbed up to a max of 217mw over two plus minutes.

Let it cool for a minute:

Fired at 185mw
at 30 sec.=190mw
At 90 seconds it was still under 200mw.

Let it cool for a minute or two again, but feeling warm:

It fired at 200 and has creeped up to 230 within 60 seconds.

Let it cool for 5 minutes and it still feels a bit warm:
It fired at 190,
at 60 seconds at 220,
and at 90 seconds, 227,
at 2 minutes-234,
at 3 minutes it jumped to 247 and has sat above 240 for the last 30 seconds,
now just dropping to 235 at near 4 minutes and stable there now for another minute.

No big peaks untill after two to three minutes of run time.
While typing, it has been sitting at 229-238mw's.

It deffinately likes the heat.
It won't perform within spec untill it is basically hot.
A new battery seemd to drop its power some???
I already plopped the other bat back in the charger, so can't check that right now.
Need to look into that further.

So, I don't know???
It will work within spec, but only after a major warm-up.
If it is room temp or below, you have a 2-plus minute wait for it to warm up to output anything above 200mw.

Would that be considered in spec then???

What is the test time figure used for the Gaurantee of 220mw average.
Over what time period?
If over the first few minutes w/ an ambient temp of 75 degrees, this doesn't quite make the grade.
If over a five minute run, it may avergae out to over 220.

In either event, I still believe you can't beat the deal here for 400 bucks.
It is a good working laser after total warm-up, even hot, and then it shines!

All of which pretty much follows the graph supplied, showing it far below 200 and far below a 220 average, but the graph stops at 180 seconds, that is where this thing just starts to come alive.

So what do you think????
Acceptable????

Awaiting everyones input!

Regards, Joe

Dunno about that. Gotta check the timestamps on my unboxing pics when I do a review. :) I want to wait until they all come in and see the review before posting numbers. Blew my mind in the first 10 secs off 1/4 charged battery. Kenometer + Lavalaser = :o

Review to come. :)

Re: **** True >200mW 532nm S-KY PGL-200 handheld l

Ref. Do another reading with an IR filter as my initial reading was mind blowing as well. Check my review.

Re: **** True >200mW 532nm S-KY PGL-200 handheld l

Hi Joe, remember, the reccommended continuous runtime for these is 5 minutes acording to their site. Also, consider the possibility that it may actually operate better with a slightly discharged battery. It sounds strage, but I did see that on a couple. I think it has to do with the diode current being a little different, and this causing a better pumping/wavelength match with the crystal.

Re: **** True >200mW 532nm S-KY PGL-200 handheld l

Hey,
No biggy on first.
Mine showed up at about 1-1:30pm, I would have to look again myself to be for sure.

Well, I have run mine over and over now, and within the first 2-3 minutes, it won't break 200mw (short of a 225+/- burst for 2 seconds upon fire-up) even if it is already warm and now appears to be slowly dropping off.
It is very unpredictable, as one time it will meter out very low, like 170's to a max of 190's over the first three minutes.
My graph pretty much shows it below 200 for 1/2 of the 180 second run.
(my graph is the one pictured first a page back)

With the battery at 3.72 volts, it will not break 200mw no matter what now, so a big difference from the earlier test when the other battery was at 3.85.
Haven't run it any longer than 5 minutes yet, but it was stable and the same temp as at minute 2-3 and given it was still climbing and/or still stable, didn't see 5 minutes to be a problem.

I just let it cool real good, slid a new 4.12 volt battery in and it fired at 265!
For one second and then it fastly dropped to below 200 and then slowly dropped to 188 over the first minute, at minute two, still below 200, now approching minute three and it finally achieved 203. Not Good. Now minute four it is at 219, not good. Now at minute five its best was 221. Not the best or worst test this time.

Yep Dr.L, I think it works a bit better with a battery that is about 3.8-4.0. Above and below seems to really effect it for the worse.
But as far as the first three minutes go, unless you just had it on and it is nice and warm, like within one minute, then it is way below spec and barely will hit 200mw on most occasions.

I don't know, becoming a bit disappointed again!  >:(

Wonder how many months it will take for them to fix it or replace it?????????
Might just get my money back.

It is still a good deal at its price even at its given performance.
But it is NOT what I paid for and what they promised.

What should I do???

:-/  :'(
