My evolution to lasers was much the same... went through a bunch of flashlights, eventually got bored, saw a laser... and well here I am

For me it kind of went like:

1980s: HeNe lasers
(long pause...)
2000s: LEDs
2005: High powered LED flashlights
2008: Oh wow, lasers! I forgot!
2011: The stage of ignorance of how much money I've put into lasers. Just look at the freakin pretty lights.

Hehe I've always had an interest in lasers.. since the 80's.. I never forgot. Just didn't always have the money.. especially before diode lasers became prevalent. About all I had before then were HeNe's and the odd surplus air cooled argon-ion.
