Me again 😐

I'm in the middle of destroying all of the cheap pens/pointers I have. Taking them apart seeing how they work ect. Basically I want to start building my own and need to buy the press kit ect. Can someone give me a list of the tools needed to build lasers (apart from the soldering iron) and better again prices beside them if they sell them. I have absolutely zero patience whatsoever and want them yesterday.

Comment what I need and what you got !!

Thanks again dudes peace 👌🏻

FlaminPyro had press sets but he is no longer active. I could turn one for you but I don't have the measurements, if anyone knows what the measurements for it are let me know please. I hate working with diodes and always buy modules, so I've got no experience with pressing my own diodes.

- icepick
- Vice
- Hobby Hands
- ESD bracelets
- Wire cutter/ Strippers
- Needle Nose Pliers
- Hex Wrench set
- Thermal Compound
- Copper Foil
- Dremel
- Tweezers (metal)

Without a press kit, you can just do the ol fashion fliparoo. We used to use the backside of the module flipped around to press with.

ElectricPlasma - that would be awesome to have another outlet for getting both the press sets and removal sets. I am in the market for a 9mm removal press but since FP isn't active I have held off.

Ok big help pal, thanks for taking the time out to write everything out one by one. Very much appreciated!!! I'm a mechanic so I have a few things off the list there anyway. Thanks again!

I keep hear about this flaming pyro dude !

Since when has FP been inactive? I'd just had a PM conversation with him the end of July.

Also, I have the complete press kit, so if someone needs the measurements, I'll locate my digital caliper and get those numbers. But just a FYI if you haven't actually seen those presses, some of the walls on them are really thin, and the precision has to be tight.

Yea he hasn't been online for a little bit over a month, last PM from him was also July and had told me he won't be on for a while. Hopefully he's back fairly soon though, been needing some contact boards :undecided:

Thanks for letting me know about the set, I'll be sure to PM you if I end up making a couple to confirm some measurements.

He should be back by 9/15, he's got this notice on his site: I will be away from the shop 8-2-16 till 9-15-16 so all orders received during that time will be mailed 9-1-16

A little confusing though, he says he'll be gone till 9/15, but orders will be mailed by 9/1. Either way, it looks like he'll be back soon! :yh:

For builds you need flaminpyro's press sets, and his wire bundles in 20' sections you can't beat his wire i love that stuff... I will never use another wire in a led or laser build now that I have tried that stuff!!!!

You have soldering iron, so helping hands, ESD bracelet, some thermal paste as posted above... you need 2 part thermal epoxy and some regular thermal paste as the 2 part epoxy is for gluing drivers to heatsinks and such, then I always use the paste on my modules before inserting into a heatsink so i'm able to change the module if I ever need to, also perform routine maintenance on them by adding new paste easily.

Then you need to buy the tools I am in the market for! Mill, Lathe, Drill Press, Small drill vice, 12mm drill bit, M9 x 0.5 Bottoming Tap, 12mm copper stock, 25 + 35mm copper stock, and then all the supporting tooling and maybe some aluminum as well in same sizes ;) Hahaha.

12mm drill bit makes the holes a little big for press fitting. I find that 15/32 is where it's at :P (11.9 mm) you can always sand it down if the module is too big
