Good grief....if those kids have to pay the fine, I hope they pay it all.......in pennies.

Seriously....that is just wrong.

yeah they are actually doing a lot more damage than you would think at first glance. putting up a stand at an early age is a good way to teach kids to earn their own money. shutting them down ruins ambition. my parents always made me work to get what i wanted not like child labor but just to teach me to save and earn money

Yep, all that teaches kids is that working doesn't pay.

I've actually heard of several of these cases now across the country, where kids' corner stands get shut down by the police.

LOL what a joke.

You aren't allowed to earn money here. Now pay me $500.

I believe that it was the French people who
disposed of their "ruling CLASS" many years ago
using a simple machine powered by gravity.

Aye. There was a story not too long ago about some kids planting a garden in their front yard to grow their own vegetables. When the plants sprouted some town official noticed they were not ornamental plants and filed a complaint that the owners were using their property for "farming" which the land is not zoned for. It was either take the town to court over a ridiculous law or dig up the garden. I don't remember the outcome unfortunately, but I doubt they went to court.

You guys are missing the big picture. Obviously that was near a major attraction, or event. If it would have been down some side road, or a simple neighborhood setting, nothing would have happened.

There are all kinds of people trying to make a buck in those circumstances. If they ticket one, they have to ticket all. Doesnt matter who is selling what. It also stops traffic. And in the case of a large event is not good.

Also thats just a short clip. They might have been warned not to do it, and did it anyway. I really dont think its as cut and dry as the news broadcast presents it as.

I always see guys pushing some carts with some food in the ghetto area in dallas. Do they pay vendor fees for those? I wonder if they got a cart and just walked up and down and sold lemonade if it would still end in a fine. For all we know the mom was making a killing on free labor. I think its wrong to show such cruel treatment to the kids. BUT like TJ said, we dont know the whole story here. I see parents use their kids all the time. I even gave some Baptist parents a mouth full one day when i went out to eat. They had their little 6 yr old daughter handing out flyers about how im going to hell for all my sins. Right in front of the main entrance to the restaurant we were at. Some parents just dont care about their kids and will throw them to the wolves.

Yes and the lemonade stand was on their own property. That's the amazing part for me.

If you watch again you'll see they are not on their own property. At least thats what it looks to me.

Even if they were, in the US the towns/cities own the first 10 feet from the side of the road into your property. This is so they can add sidewalks, sewer/water lines, ect. So anyone sitting on the side of the road is on government property, and is subject to the laws of that government.

Duh, its the US Open. I dont know how I missed that. So obviously it was a large event.

ah, yup... it's a gated community. I see what you mean. So no it's not their property but the communities. Still, the whole idea of fining a kid for $500 a stand is ridiculous.

I'd give that "inspector" a big middle finger, and rip apart his paper.

"You don't own me, get a real job" etc etc..
