ThermoElectric Coolers (TECs)

I wouldn't mind ordering a couple of these.  The ebay shipping to Canada is expensive.  Anyone from the US want to go in on these?  (I would paypal you first for the parts and shipping.) He had 11 left when I posted this.  :)

Yup, just like last time he started with 12. But I bought one so when you posted it was 11. It is already down to only 8 left :o

I got one, it was at 9 units when I bought one, so it's probably at 8 now, unless someone else jumped on the band wagon ;D I guess I need to get me some Artic Silver Epoxy now... I've got Artic silver thermal paste... so I guess I play around with the pelt and the laser while I'm waiting for epoxy. I need to get a camera lens for my photography class this semester too... it kinda bites when funds are limited, and some have to go to school, others get to go towards hobbies... oh well, such is life.

falchionsmight,
Welcome to the club...glad you got one..you will love it. You can use the arctic silver compound to put between the hot side and a heat sink until you get the adhesive. The only thing to be careful of are the wires. They are thin and I think with a little too much twisting/bending they would break off. They can be soldered back on but they are soldered in between the stacks so the solder joints are difficult to get to. Other than that have fun... :)

Mike...why am I not surprised... ;D

So I guess that's a no from those who have purchased since I posted. :(

I hate to pay $8 for a part and $18.65 for shipping.

If anyone else (US domestic) plans on picking any of these up, can you order 1 or 2 extra and I will pay you for them and to ship them to Canada? Please... :)

The evelope I got from Senkat that contained the "Glowtorch type 200mW red laser" and the GB LDs had $1.93 postage on it.

While we're talking about TEC's ---

I got my Arctic glue today and mounted my Aixiz module holder to a big TEC.
I drove one of SenKats diodes to 500 mA and all was cool. 250 mW of red. Looks like 500 mA is overdriving the poor critter. BUT -- It didn't burn out !!

Mike

More info on the GB diode.
It hits 250 mW output at 400 mA .... Turning up to 500 mA does not increase output.

Here's a picture of the TEC module....

Vrey nice, I have a 40x40mm TEC that I may do something similar with.

Can you bend TEC's?
Like bend it around an Aixiz Module?
I'm guessing you can't, otherwise all you wise guys would have done it already :D

And you guessed correctly... :D But the way the ones I ordered are designed, and because it is so small, and because it draws so little current it could still be mounted in a flashlight....awesome.. :)

i have bought about 10 peltiers in the past, they only cost $14 at jaycar, but i glue them to the heatsink with thermal tape, so replacing them is a very big pain in the a$$ because they crack. i guess you could bend a peltier if they weren't made of ceramic, but it has to transfer temperature well, and insulate electricity well. there you go, a new thing to invent "the bendable peltier module" ;D ;D
