Re: Blue Destroyer ( 2 W 445nm )

Woah, what a fitting name for such a beast! Great work Petros, +1 well earned bud!

Thanks dlmb, I think I can do better than this, but the lack of creativity sometimes doesn't let you come up with better designs :( Anyway I like it very much! Plus it's my most powerful laser atm :D

@ Trevor, you earned the name. I call this the Lizard laser from now on.
No kidding :)

you know that you can run a +12 volt and use the +5 volt for negative you get 7 volts right? that is if that is a computer power supply.

^It's not.

Isn't brown line and blue neutral?

I see there's a voltage adjust pot. Turn that down.

How about a 12V fan hooked into the unused terminals ? Forced air cooling with a filter (to control dust) and lots of 12V fans are bigger which means they can run quieter and slower for less noise while cooling.

Nice laser!

Do you have a link to that power supply? I've been looking for a high amperage 24v one and I think two of those would be great.

It makes no noise while ON and has small safety delay by the time I hook the power cord to the mains till the laser turns on. I like it very much. I don't know how much it will last but since a lot of people use it in their projectors, I gave it a try.

@Cyparagon, I was told that the voltage would drop no less than 11+ V by adjusting that pot. Same applies if I wanted to exceed 12 Volts. Or is that incorrect?

Glad to see everything worked out... Although I have to admit... Your beamshots are nothing compared to this :p :D

What laser is that? And yes, my camera sucks. High exposure time makes the image too bright plus these 445 lasers make it even worse ^^ I will get a new camera soon :)

Do you guys think the cree driver would handle 12v to power a 445 @ maybe 700ma with continuous duty cycle? Would sink the driver of course.

Or do you think rather go with a sinked lm317??

This is a very cool looking build. It looks dangerous even to the untrained eye.

Which is good. That big heat sink even if you have no idea wtf a heat sink is looks like serious business!
