you know that you can run a +12 volt and use the +5 volt for negative you get 7 volts right? that is if that is a computer power supply.
Don't do that on these power supplies: The 5 volt probably has little or no current sinking ability, so you're bound to mess things up if you connect it that way!
It can be done on a computer supply if you want to run a fan slowly, but thats entirely different as long as you have the computer connected: That will draw so much power from the +5 volt line that sinking the current from the fan is no problem.. the computer sinks that current, NOT the power supply.
