The Cyan Cannon Vll Build

Appreciate that FireMyLaser, I haven't seen you post in a very long time. Makes sense to get them as close to 490 nm as possible.

If you aren't looking for a lot of power, the 477nm and 503nm diodes would be perfect for this purpose. You'd get about 250 mW in total. Not a lot of power, but probably a very close approximation of the color.

I haven't been tracking on which diode the 477 nm is, I'm interested in the ~505 nm diode test results to confirm before I buy one.

The 477nm one I have was sold as a 480nm diode. The 505nm diodes that are being sold by Techhood, Existotem and Newgazer are the SB1573N91 iteration and are case positive. They have been consistently measuring ~503nm, but to get a low WL one you need to get one that has been measured. Singlemode has four now and is only looking to keep the ones he can tune down to 496nm, so there is one option. I have four coming and I don't know if any will be for sale, but I believe some may.

OK, please keep me in mind if you do want to sell some. I did see the thread on the 505's, looking forward to your measurements.

At long last...the Cyan Cannon is taking shape...What...It has only taken Two (2) trips around the Sun....to get to this stage ....

Yea...this has to get the award for The Longest build ever...See pic as proof...it does exist...and pumping out over 5W of Blue Green beauty.

Recently, the Alaskan and I decided to use a Worsee Black Buck 8A driver. The reason behind this switch was to have the Blue LD enabled with a variable output.

The ability to vary the Blue LD output gives us the feature of adjusting the color to suite.

The Black Buck driver has this ability. Thanx Minamito for first bringing this driver to my attention !!

Due this current adjust ability, a 10K pot needed to be added to the Maglite (2)D cell Host unit. This addition demanded extensive modification of the Maglite
original switch area.

Anyway....when ALL is done....I will do a write up...with many pics. :thanks:

Added Note: The original switch was also abandoned in favor of a 6A rated mini toggle switch.

This will be such an awesome beam to see shooting into the night sky, looking forward! Thanks Bob :)

Very nice job, CDBEAM. Looks like the beam is expanded on the output of this build. Can't wait to see the finished product. I'm sure Alaskan will love it. +rep.

Oh, be still, my beating heart... ok... not that still !!
Man that looks beautiful CD.
But as for 'the longest build', you face stiff competition against my Genesis project.

Awesome work buddy.

RB to CD

Cyan see for miles and miles.

Oh yeah! :D

A frosted Gort shroud, would be TITacular too! :gj:

Attention, To whom it may concern;

I was just at Walmart and heard it from the cashier that a friend of hers had overheard a conversation from another friend that said that his barber was in a discussion with two other people that worked on a cruse ship that the parking attendant said he read a note from somebody that said that Alaskan was thinking of passing on this build. So I would like to inform Alaskan I would be willing step up and be willing to live on Mac&Cheese for awhile longer and give this gorgeous one of a kind build, a good home where it would be well taken care of. Given all the love and fully charged batteries it could ever want. I would like to express my heart felt thanks to Alaskan if he would be so willing to allow me the privilege of undertaking such an important project, I will not let you down. :D

Ps, I know, I know, I'm dreaming,,,,,,, but it's a good dream!

(Sometimes I really hate the fact, I have to wake up.) :cryyy:

Enjoy your build Alaskan, she certainly is a one of a kind build! Think the potentiometer is a great idea. Such a win win.

Well now...thanx all !!! RB....all we have to worry about is technology overtaking us...as we take SOOoooo long to turn " Pinocchio " into a real boy !!

See here...for those that do not know who the Hell is Pinocchio !!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinocchio

Whatever !!

Paul...yes...Corrected propagation enters a 3X BE !!! When done, I will outline the divergence geometry and PO.

CE5...I have a new design shroud....Stand by for a surprise !! Endcap got me thinking...and thinking !!!! How to have a window...yet a simpler design !!! For...the TIT design demanded exact angle's...or one would not have a perfectly smooth OD/ID.....and when the full length of the 6.35mm Ally tube is cut....there may be some deformation occur from stress relief. This new design works around all that !!!

It will add some time to the build...but this simpler design will be the Cat's A55 !! Hahahaha !

BobM...Thanx !!! Who else on the planet would spend all this time on a build..." A real Nut Job " sez I !!! It will be hard to ship this one out !!! Boo Hoo !! And yea...the POT is really needed...just dial away....what color do ya want ??? Feeling like a little more " Blue " today...There ya go !!

Too late Bob.
My cousin gave that note to the parking attendant but the parking attendant didn't read the P.S at the end of that note that stated that I already bought it.

Yeah, keep dreaming RB.....

You beat me out again. Now I know it's a conspiracy!

Just got off Skype with Ultimatekaiser. He had his 577nm running and I got to see 3 watts of lemon yellow laser light with about a 2mm beam. Absolutely awesome! I am green with envy. It has a 40 watt 808nm diode array with tiny separate lenses for each emitter. He says he will eventually do a review of it. Can't say when that will be, but it will be worth seeing......I assure you.
